Where to host a video clip?
« on: 16 April, 2020, 04:56:54 pm »
I have a short video clip I’d like to post, but what site can I use to host it so I can post it here? Like Flickr for video?

You can upload videos to Flickr. Works fine.

Though Youtube is probably quicker and easier for most things. Can set it as unlisted, so random people won't find it, without a link.

Though not sure if anything will work for embedding in a forum post?

You can store it on Google drive and set it to shareable, then embed it as far as I know.

Ta, I thought I could upload to Flickr, but when I select the clip on my phone, unlike a photo the Flickr option doesn’t come up. Perhaps it’s a lap/desktop thing only. I’ll have a gander at YouTube, which was my second thought.

It’s the same for photos, which I put onto Flickr and link to, works fine. For some reason on my phone I can’t seem to upload video to flickr. YouTube gave me an error, so trying Vimeo  :)

ETA: success, its on takes from the lockdown. Made us smile.

Youtube with a http:// (not https) link works.  But depending on people's browser security settings, they may not see it.  I tend to post Youtube links in both forms, like this:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/giH_BIN7XVw&rel=1" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/giH_BIN7XVw&rel=1</a>

Indeed. Default Chrome security settings doesn't like mixed http/https on a page, so I see a blank region of screen for Kim's post.

However, the OPs post here:
https://yacf.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=115182.msg2488099#msg2488099

works just fine.
It's a vimeo https link.
What's been pasted into the forum post is simply this:

https://vimeo.com/408504636

(I've deliberately broken the link here to prevent it rendering the image, but to show the underlying link.)
