Ours is wondering where his mate next door, is, who would normally be spending a lot of time in our garden, or more recently, in our house half the time. Alfie is currently in a cattery.

Boy, has ours (Baggins) got a surprise coming! At the weekend, he is going to the moggery while we go to France, where he will find his cell-mate is the aforementioned Alfie from next door. When we get back, more confusion, 'cos Alfie from next door won't be Alfie from next door any more, he'll be Alfie wot lives with us. Next door have moved, and can't take Alfie with her, and we luv Alfie to bits, so we will have two white and black mogs.

Sleeping (probably), piddling on the mail in the hallway (most likely) and definitely not eating. Willow the cat is 17 and her teeth don't work properly any more. Food has become more and more of a chore lately. She'll look at a plate of food sniff it, have a small nibble and walk away to stick her head in anything with water in it to drink.

She's even off previous favourite treats such as Tuna or grilled chicken.

She doesn't know it yet (but I think she's already suspicious) she's headed for the vet this evening to see if they have any suggestions but she's too old now to be knocked out for a full dental op.

She's very thin and becoming frail it's hard to watch, she seems happy and still purring lots but we can't help worrying a little.

Well, Willow went to the vet yesterday. She's lost just under a kilo in the last six months and she has never been a big cat.

Her gums are sore and infected so the vet gave her a pain killer followed by an antibiotic injection. She spent most of yesterday evening a bit spaced out and staring at the wall.

This morning she was much more lively and ate her way through a tin of pate before we left for work so hopefully her mouth isn't quite so sore today.

The vet suggested we have a blood test to check for kidney or liver problems but two injections seemed enough for one day and I think we are a little concerned what that might reveal. We'll see how she gets on over the next few weeks and make a decision then.

Poppy is on holiday in Berlin again, her fourth time since we moved out here (I have only been once, and that was without her!)

The son of the family I live with, who is studying in Berlin, has this incredible connection with Poppy - she loves him totally, and he loves her back. He visited last weekend and will be coming back in two weeks so asked if he could take her to Berlin for the two weeks - and I said yes of course. She will be going to his University lectures with him, to work, hanging out with his friends, probably getting drunk and smoking too much... so a great experience for a six year old cockapoo!

So at the moment she's probably in a Uni lecture somewhere.

Well thanks to our lazy mutt we didn't go out riding early this AM. She has been steady waking up every day between 6.30-7.30AM for months now. Demanding feeding and after a little digesting nap, walkies. So we agreed when she is up we too will get going and ready to ride, right after her walk.

At 9AM we woke up to find her fast asleep between us. She is normally up and ready as soon as we stir, but today we had another hour lazying in bed. She was sooooo comfy, lazy and sleepy no interest in food or walkies.

There's a cat I used to ride past regularly who did that. Mr Chips, he's called (one time someone opened the door to him and called him by name as I rode past). Then what I assume to be a landlord or housing association or similar decided to do some refurbishment on several houses in the terrace, and the curtains he used to sit behind were replaced by blinds without a gap. I've hardly got to admire him since
