Action shots from a former life
« on: 29 February, 2012, 06:21:10 pm »
A bit of googling has uncovered a website I used to run and had forgotten about. Within it I found a photo from the last century which shows how unkind time has been to my hair colour.

What did you do that you don't now - or at least, not as much as you did?

Fortunately there are no pictures of that.

Er - same as you Wow, although I can only find one photo of me playing online from the 2003 National County Rapidplays

(I'm back left)

I also used to play the cello while at school, but I haven't played one in years

Kayaking. I practically lived in my K1 marathon boat.

Climbing

Running barefoot.

Teaching athletics and games

hmm, I might see if I can find photos of some of these things, before they disappear "like tears in the rain".

sailing and rowing.  Really miss both, but we're too far from anywhere to sail and rowing got too time-hungry.

(never did get the email about wearing a blue tshirt)

Well that's shattered the previous mental image I had of you. I had you down as more of a front left kinda guy.

Do they arrange it so the black and white alternate between players or is it just a curious co-incidence?
Right! What's next?

Ooooh. That sounds like a daft idea.  I am in!

I would have had me jumping out of a plane on my first parachute jump but the camera on the wing wasn't working!

That was a team competition. So borads 1,3 and 5 were black and 2,4,6 white on our team. They are aranged like that so that the whole team sits on the same side of the board.

In individual competions the boards are arranged the same way round all along the row. This is because the clock goes on white's left hand side, and if you set the boards up right then you can wander along as an organiser and see the time remaining on each clock.

I don't do this at all any more

Here are 3 photos spanning my motorcycling years, from moped (see saddle of Yamaha FS1E behind my RD250) to my final bike (Honda NX650) by way of a few more bikes not shown.  The middle one being my dream bike (it's always nice to have a dream come true) The 750 "Africa twin".

3 photos, 27 years.

YACFer "A Warwickshire Lad" is now the proud owner of my motorcycle gear.

I started thinking "I hope a Deer or Pheasant doesn't run out of the hedgerow whilst I'm doing 60 around this corner".  Once you start  worrying about that it's time to quit.

Now I worry about the same thing but I'm only doing 20.

I still make music and play guitar of course, just not in a live band since 1992. Never say never though!

My first and only go on a quad bike, in BC, Canada.  Ok, it was only 2007, but this is only the photo I'm going to post of me.  I got out of the hole, and without toppling over.

Can't find an action photo of me, but I did this for a couple of years (played for the guys in white)

...then I decided that I wasn't good enough and gave in.  :-[

I spent the money from selling my kit, on camera gear and started doing photography for the team, local press and camera club competitions - which is how come the above photo exists - I took it.  :smug:
If it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is...

Lee, I don't descend anything like as fast as I used to because i'm thinking about wild-life suddenly jumping out, too.

Sorry to see that Honda were so unoriginal as to call a bike Dominator, which name will forever be associated by people of advanced age with the Norton original.  My brother had one  and it used to scare the living daylights out of us both.  My last bike was a BSA 650 Gold Flash, with a Busmar double adult sidecar.  My (now) wife and I went all over Europe on it.  Wonderful times.
