60th B/day treat from NHS?
« on: 31 October, 2014, 05:33:15 pm »
I have returned to find a bowel cancer screen pack from the NHS.

They want samples from three bowel movements, and the pack is "valid" for 14 days.

No funnies please...

Is it best to give them three consecutive days samples or to space it out more for the best test results? If so what is the best spacing?

Bugger

Wouldn't that cause an anomaly with the test results?

On another thread, Helly said we don't talk about poo. On CBBC there's a programme called Opeartion Ouch! Quite entertaining, actually. The show is presented by twins. In one episode, one ate healthily, the other not. They then compared each other's shit. Also, a couple of hospital scenarios on the show have involved kids who are admitted with severe stomach pains, only to be diagnosed as severely constipated. I think that's enough crap talk...

Just been at the RCP helping to brief new Lay Assessors for Endoscopy JAG Accreditation. It's quite exciting, getting Lay people as part of the Accreditation visits.

If you do have anomalous poo, look out for a 'JAG' accredited endoscopy unit for your ride on the black lizard. The unit will be better trained, better managed, and in the future, likely to provide a better patient experience that one that is not accredited.
It is simpler than it looks.

I have to say my 55th birthday treats and black lizard rides at St Mark's exactly a year ago were first rate.

They ought to be.
Many years ago they produced car stickers with the strapline 'St Mark's -Tops for Bottoms'...

Best spacing between samples?

About 25 years.
I am often asked, what does YOAV stand for? It stands for Yoav On A Velo

Ok I thought the poo sticks thread was more innocent so hadn't read it...LOL

But the question I asked is not there.

So I repeat is there a better way to do it than three consecutive days?

My doctor friend says that it is extremely unlikely to alter the results whether you do three consecutive evacuations, or space them out in any way you wish.

Poo sticks away !!!
