Pictures at an Exhibition was the first LP I owned, still listen to it.  Will give it a good full play in a minute.

The Nice.
Middle Earth in Covent Garden.  1969.
Rondo.
1969.  I was 20.

Part of what I am.

ETA. Just realised that it can't have been 69. I wasn't in London then.  Must have been earlier.
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.

Saw ELP in about 74 in London, with Mr Emerson stabbing his organ and then lying on the stage under it, during a solo. Marvellous. Oh, and very loud.
It is simpler than it looks.

The golden age of Pop and Rock was 1967-1974 in my opinion.

The golden age of Pop and Rock musicians is 24-29 in my opinion.

So that means the legendary musicians are 66-78 years old now.

Next year they will be 67-79 years old . ..then 68-80 and so on.

Inevitably there will be a fairly constant flow of bad news regarding pop and rock legends.

Lee is spot on.  It is reaching the point at which the larger part of my music collection is by those who are no longer with us- but, OTOH, they've left a f----n great legacy

I can't imagine many of today's "artistes" meriting much of a mention should they make it to their 70s and then pop.

More related to the thread about US Gun Deaths, but suicide by gun is the most common form of gun death in the US.

It's a tragic fact that the majority of suicide "attempts" by other methods are often a cry for help and (I'm sure I'm correct here) most people who attempt, and fail, to commit suicide don't repeat the attempt following counselling and/or medication.

Having easy access to a hand gun increases the chances of a successful suicide and undermines any attempt to persuade the victim that there may be a better perspective on their situation.

For example.  If Stephen Fry owned a handgun he would most likely have been dead for over 20 years now.

Tragic.

Could have been a Terry Kath-type incident but doesn't sound very likely  :'(
