Or in a crosswind, ask Mcshroom!
I feel like Captain Kirk, on a brand new planet every day, a little like King Kong on top of the Empire State

Capes are good

Fact.

Except on a recumbent.

Nah just wear it backwards like a huge bib. Perfect for keeping crumbs off your lycra if you eat on the move.
If I had a baby elephant, it could help me wash the car. If I had a car.

I saw some wings in Poundland earlier. Wondering whether they might be good to create some wind resistance down Blue Bank....

Parachute might be more appropriate.  Except I don't have a good track record with those.

That begs the question how is it that you're here to tell us about it ?  ;D

Unmanned rocket.  Small crater in Lincolnshire.  Some rather expensive pressure sensing and telemetry gear reduced to the size of a Scottish pancake.

I knew it wouldn't be something as mundane as jumping out of a plane  ;)

I think your costume should involve explosive bolts, Kim. Chance to redeem yourself and all that.

Meanwhile, I'm still without inspiration. *thinking face*

My laptop is b0rked, so I may not be checking in so frequently for a while. If there are any urgent requests or info needed,  CL,  best text me...

Looking forward to our weekend at the seaside!

OK,  arriving at York at 22:38 on the Friday, and leaving from Scarborough at 15:52 on Sunday.

Is a sleeping bag permissible as bed linen ?

I'm in. Assuming trains get me back from London to Nottingham, and I can then cycle to Newark in time to get the train to York I should be there in time for midnight.

If not, it's an impromptu 200km DIY from Nottingham to Whitby, as I've got to meet Sharlotte there as she's got the festival tickets.......

And won't need a bed as should have a hotel to collapse in.

I hope so. I'm not lugging my duvet around.

There's loads of duvets there.  I'll take as many duvet covers/pillow cases/sleeping bags etc as I can muster, and a stack of towels.  I'm pretty sure that last year we managed an adequate sufficiency such that nobody needed to take them on their bikes!

Not that having a duvet with you on your bike would necessarily be a terrible idea, on this ride...

True. It would have to be a goth duvet, though.

I'm leading the ride, then? I will as long as someone York-ish can lead us out of town.

Anyone else up for tapping on the door at Fylingdales for a cuppa? ;D

Let us know if we're needed to transport anything. I'd offer towels of my own, but they're a bit threadbare for offering to other people!

Hmm. This is less than two weeks away. Today's dismal audax attempt has me a bit worried. I think I can do the ride, but I might be extremely slow...

I'm planning to bring the baraktacycle, for the novelty value of descending Blue Bank on three wheels.  I'm expecting to be differently fast up to that point.

I suppose the trike offers more scope for decoration, too...

I'll be on my hybrid, on the basis that low gears = good. And it can carry stuff.

I've done pitifully few miles since last time I was in York, so you probably don't need to worry about slow.

Tat! Have you got your tat sorted?!

The forums being a pain (Taking ages to load). Can someone summarise the craic (Just the ride, not the weekend) and I'll tell you whether I'm an innie or an outie?
