Good to hear that jogler. I've had two weeks off with a lurgi, but am feeling up to essaying a short ride tomorrow.
I will if you will.  ;)

A curry, some more cider and the track cycling on the telly should set me up nicely.
It's a bit weird, but actually quite wonderful.

After a break of several weeks (14/15th Sept iirc) since I did a ride of any distance my body is feeling as if it might be able to cash the cheques my mind writes;providing they are small cheques.

My lungs are currently runing on IOUs...

Get well soon, Kim, I know it's a bit of an endless battle for you.

Jogler, that is good news!

Is that one of the things they ask for on Holby City when a patient comes in - I remember them asking for E's and U's. I've always assumed it's some sort of NHS alphabetti-spaghetti game.

Sadly I was raised by medics and know that's short for a set of kidney function tests.  A natural follow up to "Can I have a 'P' please Bob?", as it were.

I posted my Super C rack bag to Carradice on Monday to have the knackered velcro straps replaced. Receipt timed 16.03.

Got back from doing some shopping ten minutes ago to see a post van stopping outside the house. Parcel postmarked Nelson.

Excellent service, & a very neatly done repair.

Picked up a signed First Mordecai Richler in Oxfam for £2.99! Showed it to the assistant and he said "Yep, that's fine, take it".

I pointed out that he recently died, which is naturally awfully sad, but may affect value and he said "No, take it!"

I wonder if a charity gets a job lot of signed firsts they break them up between different shops?

Erm, 2001 recently?  I guess on some timescales (eg geological), but to most people that's not recent (unless you're talking about a different Mordecai Richler, but there can't be that many. Are we both talking about a Canadian Jewish author?)
Actually, it is rocket science.

My Travelpro work crew bag's zipper pull thingy went missing a couple of weeks ago whilst on tour. It was a minor zip but still annoying. I didn't want to trash the bag as it was only a year old.
A mate gave me a number to call and sort it out.
Even though I didn't have the warranty card etc, they still repaired it for free. Best thing, their couriers know where my house is! (see grumble thread)
Turn around time about a week. :)

Nearly 2 years after the event, I'm now in possession of a cheque for a not-insubstantial amount of money as settlement for my accident compensation claim. So far, so good ...

... however, the cherry on the proverbial cake is the 'client satisfaction survey' they also sent. Tonight's entertainment is now well and truly taken care of  :demon: (FWIW, I can't fault my insurers at all - their legal representatives, on the other hand, were a complete shower of shit)

It's also worth pointing out that the obligatory n+1 has already been bought :)

I have managed to negotiate a day of TOIL for tomorrow, so here is hoping that I manage to fix the DB today :)
I feel like Captain Kirk, on a brand new planet every day, a little like King Kong on top of the Empire State
