Looks like Garmin are at it again. New Version 2.40 out

Changes made from version 2.30 to 2.40:

Fixed problem where stopping and restarting the timer could cause invalid track points.
Fixed problem where an invalid power value could be logged when stopping and restarting the timer.
Improve battery checking to remove inadvertent shutdowns.
Fixed problem where speed sensor data was not used when GPS signal was lost.
Fixed problem where low or 0 speed could be recorded prior to a turn.

I think it is whether it uses zero values (e.g. when stopped) when calculating the average speed etc.

I have upgraded to the latest Firmware and have noticed that when I plug it into the mains to charge it the device now turns on. Previously it would just show the battery icon on red and then green.

I can get back to this icon by turning it off whilst it is plugged in. Does anyone know if it is charging whilst it is turned on and plugged in?

I notice that another thread about auxiliary battery packs for the 705 refers to the fact that the computer usb cable being different to the charger USB cable and the problems that this may present when using an external battery pack. Is this latest Firmware addressing this problem?

It should still charge whilst turned on and connected to either mains/PC or external battery pack.

When turned on and connecting to ext. bat. pack it turns on the backlight and pops up a very small window with no readable text. Pressing menu shows the battery charging icon, a battery with a lightning bolt image. Disconnecting when turned on it displays a message, press enter to clear it and continue.

With the device turned off connecting to ext. bat. pack turns it on. Turn it off and it displays the charging icon. Try to turn it on and the charge icon is replaced with the PC connected icon.

AFAIK the differences between the charging cable and the data cable is the data wires, tx/rx, are not connected in the power one.

605 with the 3.10 firmware.

Loads of complaints about the new version 3.2 on the Garmin forum. I am having problems with the unit recognising the cadence unit on one of my bikes now. I have not done a hard reset after the upload so I do not know if that is the problem.
