Peacocks&Kites Calender and Cambrian 3 Perm double

I'm going to do this as prep for the MC1000.  Will start the perm at Chepstow.  Anybody else thinking of doing it?

I've entered the P+K300 but am not tempted to do it back to back with the CS3A.

Too close to the Mille Cymru - I'll be tapering down towards the event at that point.

Maybe

The 3A is a pretty tough ride though - much harder than the P&K.  Back-to-back would be...a challenge :)

But I suppose that's the point.

TOBY mentioned this on the Dorset Coast and it is tempting.

Indeed that is the point. I think I'll do it unless the weather is too poor to render it miserable. Last years p&k was made harder by hot weather.

I believe the back-to-back hilly 300 was mentioned as a worthwhile idea by Marcus as a way of preparing oneself for the 1000.

Seems to make sense to me and that's my plan for that weekend too.

Note: have not completely given up the idea of the Crackpot

Toby and I were discussing this again over the weekend. My preference was P&K saturday then Chepstow Elenith on Monday. I didn't think I'd find the Sunday ride anything other than a grind, and even if it comes under 'training for bigger things', I'm still doing it for Fun.

The problem with the P&K is that it starts at 5am

That's five in the morning.  So leave the YHA at 4:30am...you get the idea

Sounds ok to me. Better than a 400 starting at 2pm... ;) I wouldn't want to start the Chepstow perm much later than 6am either, and undoubted my digs would be 50k away at Toby's house.

Sounds like a plan then.
I'll be riding at my own pace so I'll be yo-yoing with everyone else I think. Not the most sociable way of riding but certainly more efficient than riding at somebody else's pace.

If I ride (and I'd like to) I'll be yo-yo-ing out of phase with Flatus :)

In for the P+K....waiting for the Teifi Traveller to find out if I'm up to 2 x300... I'd see Flatus at the start and then some significant amount of time later at the finish  :-[

I had planned on drinking lots of beer in preperation for the Mille Cymru that weekend, but getting up early and riding two hilly 300's back to back sounds like far more fun. I might be in.  :-\

But I have no idea where to stay, or how to get between the two rides?

The 3A I can ride from home (ish), and we have space for anyone who would like to stay.

Getting to/from Cardiff for the P&K may involve a car for me.  Takes about 40 mins.

Haven't completley written this off but looks like I'll have my iron in a different fire that weekend.

I need to get my head around actually doing these two rides, but if I go with it, would I be able to borrow a bit of floor space on the Friday and Saturday nights and in return I could be your chauffeur on the Saturday to the P&K?

Well I actually came in second, but the rider who came in first was later found to have doped and was disqualified

Booked into Cardiff YH Fri/Sat.  Toying with the idea of a shorter and flatter perm (possibly Cambrian 2B) on Sunday.

Nah - come with us :)

I'm fixing it on the 3A, so I'll be walking lots.

I did toy with the idea of the 3A, but work and the need to drive back to Surrey suggest something quicker will suit me better.

Well, Toby and PaulD are out, doing the Hellfire perm instead.

Who's in then?  ...and how do you enter the CS3a?
