I went to the DIY shop for some araldite earlier. They didn't have any :(
I think you may be unfortunate in your choice of DIY shop.  Araldite (other two part adhesives are available) can still be bought as a two tube blister pack complete with mixing tray & (stupidly small) spatula.  As any fule kno a cocktail stick is the only proper mixer & applicator for Araldite.

Probably, it happens to be convenient rather than good! (Also leaking quite badly this week.) I'm glad the real stuff is still available - that mixer nozzle is a terrible idea.

Doesn't a cocktail stick poke through the foil?

Foil? A bit of cardboard is wot I always use, these days oft liberated from a cereal box. Using foil seems very posh.

I’m not surprised that you worry about piercing the foil if you’re mixing vigorously enough to require folded up edges. Calm down young man*, and smell the glue.  ;D

If you mix the epoxy too fast, you will add a lot of air, which reduces strength. Not a problem for most things but we secure the bolts of 200t capacity bollards into a wharf with epoxy. It certainly matters then.

Do you not have to degas the epoxy? I’d have thought for critical applications like that degassing would be standard.

No. Just mixed in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. Usually the manufacturer trains the crew in how to prepare the hole and to mix and place the material.

My Dad isn’t one to waste foil on an overly large glue mixing whatsit. Though I suppose it avoids the butter side down issue if it gets dropped on the carpet.

Why can't some BRITISH people understand the difference between a donkey and their posterior aspect?

And English subtitles of BRITISH films, where the character says "arse" but the subtitles say "ass". Perhaps they think it's the UK pronunciation, rhyming with "grass"?

Last night I dreamt that I was being physically attacked.
All very vivid stuff.
To the extent that I awoke, to find my attacker standing in front of me.
I lashed out with my right foot in order to defend myself.
This resulted in me suffering The Most Painful Cramp Ever in my calf, which meant that there were no further nam-nams for me last night.
My calf  remains sore, more than twelve hours later.

That kind of thing is really unsettling; especially with a physically painful reminder of the bad dream. Hope you can banish the nasty thoughts and sleep better tonight; also that the leg improves.

Actually it rhymes with both, in roughly equal numbers of the population.  It's a geographical thing.

I had to take one of my bikes to an LBS for something (one of the few things!) I don't have the tools for - namely bleeding the SRAM disc brakes.  Job done OK BUT they had lowered the saddle right down onto the frame (presumably someone had a test ride to check the brakes?) - BUT failed to put it back to the correct height.  I collected the bike with the car so didn't notice - I only found out when I fitted the under-saddle bag back on.

To me a basic thing when working on a customer's bike and the saddle/seatpin is moved is to mark the height with a bit of tape on the seatpin so you can reftit it to the correct height.

Car service yesterday.  "We couldn't put it through our car-wash, it's been broken for the last two years and we're waiting for parts".

At least they vacuumed the sawdust out of the footwell.  And I did rather like the track of cat's paw-prints from radiator to boot, even though it's not our cat.

Aye. Yesterday I phoned up a specialist's office to get an appointment and the answering machine told me "our office is open 9am to 12am and 2pm to 4pm. Please try again within these periods".  It was 15:45.  Poets Day isn't just a UK phenomenon.

I've dine similar when put the wife's saddle up so could put in work stand and forgot. For once hadn't stuck it up to make her saddle a better height for cycling

Mr R and I swapped cars over the weekend and he managed to crash mine.  He pulled up outside a friend’s house, which is on a slope, and got out without putting the handbrake on.  He was then somewhat surprised when the car rolled down the slope and into a wall.

It was all caught on our friend’s Ring doorbell.  I’m tempted to send it to You’ve Been Framed* to help defray the repair costs.
