I found a wallet on my way in yesterday – lying in the gutter, very soggy.  It contained a debit card, driving licence, Army ID, NAAFI card, a £20 note and two unmentionables.

The driving licence had an address but a search did not turn up anything.

I was planning to drop it round in the evening but Miss R suggested a Twitter post.

So she asked if anyone knew a Joe Bloggs, private in the Army from a place in Surrey who had lost a wallet.  It was re-tweeted 70 times and within a few hours he had been found.  A random Sergeant saw the Army mentioned and traced him through some database.  I was sent a phone number a short while afterwards.

The wallet was collected yesterday evening by a very relieved young man.  Strange thing is, it was found quite a long distance (1ml or so) from any route he remembers taking the previous day.  If it had been dropped in the supermarket carpark as he thought, and been found and then discarded, the £20 note would not have still been in it.

Still, all’s well etc...

I did.  Unfortunately I hung it from the gate of the nearest horse-inhabited field.

Yesterday I saw by the side of the road but did not stop to look at:
1 book (paperback, green back cover)
1 10p coin
1 blackbird
1 greenfinch
2 seagulls

That top picture reminds me of a Fiat Cinquecento I "found" on the night section of the Invicta 400 once.  Front heavily bent, lights on, engine running, driver's door open and no-one inside.  And nothing nearby for it to have hit either.

Useful bit of metal, will go in the box under the bench in Thee Shedde. I couldn't see anything which it might have released as it failed, most of the threaded part had broken off. I just hope the "anything" - -of some mass, judging by the bolt - didn't fall into traffic.

Ratchet Crimp Tool like one of these.

Works but looks messy as it had the pivot points lubricated with copper grease.

While on a ride from York rally we stopped at a bus stop in Riccall as the tea stop wasn't open. Dawn said there's a bottle in the bin. I pulled out this!

We found some RED SHINY bolt croppers just like Bledlow's in a black holdall dumped in our front hedge a while back.

Got the Polis to deal with it as I could not imagine any benign reason for their presence.

I can't help wondering how you manage to spot so many items without the occasional prang while you're not watching the road ahead  :-\  ;)
