Ooh.  Interested.

Direct trains run from B'ham every whenever.  There's one that arrives (allegedly) at 10:16.  Would that be OK?  I don't really want to catch the previous direct one that arrives at 9:08 as that would mean leaving my house at 5:45  :o   There are other times but they all involve 2 changes, which is not good with a bike.

Trains back are every hour on the hour.  Not sure which one to get.  Will there be beer?

Not quite definite yet, matey.
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.

You are always welcome Basil.  There may even be a spare bed chez nous if you need it (and that isn't a come on).

I think I'm going to be driving up, trains being inconvenient and indirect from Colchester.

So... any ideas where I can park without taking out a mortgage to pay for the ticket?

Park in any of the Park & Rides around town and the parkling is free.

junction 11 of the M11, turn right towards cambridge then it's immediately on the left. I could meet a group there and act as a guide to the start, if you like....

I didn't realise how much of a pain it would be to get to Cambridge from the civilised world. I've got to go into London and back!

I think I might avail myself of this offer!

What time would you like us at the P&R do you think?

meet there at 9.45 to, leave at 10?   the car park is HUGE, so if everyone parks as close to the entrance as poss (where the road comes in, just off the M11) we can gather there - I'll be the one on a bike.

I'm a definite Greg. But I'm having trouble booking Cambridge so I may have pitch my tent (so not innuendo) in your garden, tea and toast in the morning please.

Slight problem, in that we don't have anywhere to pitch.  But we may have a bed free.

Beds are a bit resistant to tent pegs and when they do go in they make a hell of a mess.  ::-)

Is there a problem with the campsite ?  I'd not even looked at booking it yet.

No, it is the CCC clubrez website causing grief. It says my card is unauthorized but also says booking confirmed.  ??? Clubrez is borkened, so I've been informed, and I've made a query with the CCC. There are vacancies for the weekend, don't know how many though, so I'll probably phone midweek to book.

there's another campsite in Fowlmere which is about 10 miles out of cambridge, and there's a great curry house in the village..

Hmmm?
I've cycled around that area a few times. Some of it while riding the North Road 24 hour TT, other times just passing or riding an Audax. I've always thought the area pretty boring myself, but I think that maybe this ride will show this area in a different perspective.
So, I'm very tempted and you can put me down a maybe.
A big turnout and after ride feasting and socialising will tip the scales even further in favour of my attending. (Especially the feasting bit ;))

Isn't she on holiday? I know she cited jetlag as the reason for her not joining us on the WARTY this coming weekend.
