I think JEM has a knee injury, so was just thinking about that... There's that other pub I passed on the way to Marks Tey, in Feering I think...  The Bell?

Thank you.  :) Yes, somewhere not too far but which doesn't put Ted at risk of drowning, would be great. Appt with consultant in a couple of weeks but I pretty much know the score so it's a balance between keeping some fitness and not completely wrecking it before it can be sorted out.

Hmmm...

Colchester is very East but Nik is away this week...
GS wanted a trip to Tollesbury, which is probably a bit better for Dirk
Tom is after somewhere a bit more central however, White Notley is bang on the centre of Gravity for MEMWNS

If only there was a nice pub in Messing that was friendly...

Joergen

Anyone ridden / walked the path between Goldhanger and Tollesbury on the "sea wall" what's it like??

yes to Chequers.

Seawall is "difficult".  I rode Heybridge to Tollesbury on the Tripster with 38mm tyres and it was hard, windy and windy.

I rode from Goldhanger to Heybridge the other week, no problems.
25c tyres, just be aware of caravanners as you go past Osea caravan park.

The path deteriorates significantly after Goldhanger - in fact it's barely a path.

There is a nice little byway up from the sea wall to the outskirts of Tollesbury though.

OK - this week, The Woolpack, Witham (subject to confirmation of bike parking arrangements - I think BFC was going to see if the new owners will accommodate us in their rear again...)

I have an off site so possibly calling in by motorised transport.

The Woolpack is a proper tapering destination for the Hustler at least.

Someone clearly wasn't listening when I said I wouldn't be out this week, due to being on late shift.

I heard that bit, but thought I did hear you offer to check it out? If not perhaps someone local could pop in to see?

If the Witham Woolly isn't suitable re:bike parking, there are other alternatives nearby ... though I have to say I am getting paranoid about the PBP bike.
