Best thing ever when behind the wheel imo is to let everything wash over you.  There are enough angry wankers on the road already.

Quite.  Channel the wisdom of Ogmios.

BN - with it being light early the hounds waking up early so outbthe door for walk just after 5am this morning

GN - means got loads done before work, posted letters and went to tetrapak recycling on walk, emptied dishwasher and reloaded for trays etc which involves removing top shelf and clipping in an extra bit at back. Made girls lunches, pumped tyres up on wife's bike and sorted chickens before getting the rabble up

BN - Had a piece of tooth and associated filling come loose on Sunday.

GN - It doesn’t hurt, and isn’t gouging either tongue or cheek.

MGN - Phone the dentist (NHS) Monday at 9:15 and get straight through

EMGN - They have an appointment Tuesday at 10:30.

I think my first driving was with a 3-speed column change car. Vauxhall Victor, circa 1971*. My parents soon upgraded to a Vauxhall Viva with 4 gears and a gearstick in what is now the normal place.

I don't think I've ever driven a car with more than 4 gears. Our last 3 cars have been electric and the previous one was a Toyota Pious.

*When I drove it, not when it was built. Its registration was OO 5547. I think that makes it a 1962 model.

Drove a car with a manual column change – a Peugeot 404 – precisely once, for about ten yards.  USAnian automatics with shift wossnames sticking out of odd places don’t count.

BN:  Had a shower & the water wasn't draining properly.
GN: after some vigorous thrusting with the plunger some lumps of matted body hair   were dislodged and the water vanished with a satisfying gurgle.
BN: I went into the bathroom later & found 2 sizeable slugs, 1 in the tray & 1 on the wall.  I assume they've come up the drain....

Reminds me of a trip to Africa.  We were staying on an Island (the hairy lemon) in the Nile just down from the main wave.  The shower was open air and had a wooden slatted platform.  I turned on the shower to see a writhing mass of 6inch long centipedes disentangling themselves and scurrying away from the water.

After that i washed in the Nile.

Miss Ham ( I really need to mind an alternative moniker for her now) had just left us and was walking away with the smallest member of Clan Ham (at 9 months) in a push chair, when I went out and called her back for summat, she turned but failed to put the brake on the chair.

In the Shockingly Bad News category, the chair starts towards the kerb and reaches it before either of us could, tips over in such a way the the child within hits the ground with their head.

In the Wonderfully Good News category, baby had a soft landing and was entirely unharmed. She face planted into a big pile of fresh horse poo.

Blimey Ham.

My heart was in my mouth as I read that. Then I read the finale. I'm afraid I may have laughed.

Arguably, the Prius has an infinite number of gears.

BN: It's my day in the blue and white hell that my employer laughably calls a 'brilliant place to work'

EMBN: Someone's half-inched my coffi out the fridge.

GN: There's an on-site shop which stocks ground coffi

BN: ...for £9.75.

GN: Chilled tap water is better for me.  O:-)

GN. Mrs B won the Llandysul Lotto.

Not so GN.  It wasn't up in the thousands.  It's been won two weeks running and the pot was only £230.

BN. There were two winners.
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.

BN:  Shed at my wife's allotment broken into some time in the last 24 hours, bolts/padlocks levered off with a garden fork.

GN: Nothing appears to be missing (I was worried about my 60 year old camping kettle and 40 year old Camping Gaz stove) - and we seem to have gained a good quality garden fork that none of the other allotmenteers has claimed.

BN:  My phone got drownded at scout camp and the display finally gave up the ghost yestarday after I got home.
GN: The Boy has a spare phone wot I am transferring stuffs to while I think about a replacement.
BN: The old phone is playing my alarm tone "By A Sleepy Lagoon" on endless loop and I can find no way of turning it off.

Because Jurek, I decided my life would not be complete without a cordless screwdriver.  Also it will make hanging the front door immeasurably easier.

Hurrah: e-mail from Toolstation saying it’s in

Bah: It'll need charging before I can play with it >:(

Edit: Bah2: In between writing that ^^^^ and putting my shoes on it’s started raining, which the BB bloody C's weather app said had a 0% chance of happening  >:( >:(

Bad news.
The Honest John forum has withdrawn their offer to me to be one of their new moderators. This was after reading their terms of reference and replying, stating that I would lock anti-cyclistthreads (which I thought were getting out of hand); and there have been a few.

BN: My GCH boiler's been making some funny noises when heating water of late.
GN: The local Farcebook group recommended someone who slotted me in today. My annual service is overdue, so two birds/one stone...
GN: He charged less for a service than last year's bloke charged for a mere safety inspection
BN: New gas valve needed, which ties in with my googling of the error code
GN: He had one on the van
BN: it's an extra £90
GN: all's well now

GN One of the youngest just bought a house with her partner.
BN The house needs work, including repairs to guttering.
MBN A builder who quoted for the gutter work pointed out that the hip tiles lacked mortar and the rear chimney needed repointing.
GN He quoted £600 for the roof repairs, including capping both chimneys!

Why cap the flues?

I could be wrong but I read that as referring to capping bricks on top of the stacks, as opposed to (the bad practice of) blocking flues.

They are unused chimneys with open pots. He included putting in vents
