I have a perfectly good eTrex HCx actually prefer it to the 705 I also own, question is, would there be any benefit to acquiring one of the new E20/30's or just stick with the HCx.

My take on the E30 vs the Vista HCx:

The hardware is much better - no rubber band, joystick in a sensible place, much better bracket system, marginally sharper screen, GLONASS, Ant+, etc

The software is substantially different - It's probably slightly more intuitive to a new user.  It will frustrate an experienced HCx user, due to the removal of certain options (advanced routing config, track logging to SD card), weird trip odometer behaviour, and so on.  Some welcome improvements, notably the ability to upload data by simply dropping a GPX onto the filesystem, and the ability to use multiple map images simultaneously.

Bottom line:  If you're happy with it, I'd stick with the HCx until it breaks.

Agree - stick with what you've got, apart from the rubber band and the mount, it is the better GPS.

In any case I feel it in my water that an Etrex 40 will be in the shops before the end of the year.
