b) You had some idea where your membership card was! <stagedirection type="point and laugh" direction="towards chief">
 :P ;D

Well, after searching both high and low I am pleased to report that I have found the sacred beardy-weirdy club card  After peeling it from  it's sticky home and signing the back of it, it is ready to be shown with a smug grin at the beer tent entrance and at the same time, no doubt impressing the surrounding Chelmsford totty  :D

I just wish I could remember a) signing up for the club and b), just how much it cost for a year's membership.  Eitherway I'm pretty sure it was more than the £4 saving  :'(

I am thinking of wandering off to the station at about 7pm so should be at the festival before 8pm.

Well, I was half-hoping to get to the beerfest tonight, but in view of my riding a little 100km randonnee tomorrow, I think I'd better be sensible. Next week maybe [as part of my very serious 'taper' before the Mersey '24'!]
Have fun [several pints of it.]

Mate, a man of your calibre can have a few beers and ride 100km - don't be such a fairy!  You never know there might be some leftover food to finish off  ;D

Yeah Tomsk, you should go. After all, there's a girl from Tomsk in my language course and that's in Siberia. What's Dunmow to a Beer Festival compared to Siberia to Düsseldorf?

8 it is then. It's stopped raining and the sun is out. Perfect weather for drinking beer.

I believe between us we have enough of each other's digits to use mobile telecommunication should we not find each other once inside. I know "The bar" is the most obvious place to look - but it's vast!

I keep burping. Those chilli pickled eggs rock! Honestly, I can still taste that bad boy now!

A very fun evening.

I have to go to hospital tomorrow and I think it will go something like this:

"So Mr bobb, your blood test results are not too great. What have you been doing?"

"Eating pickled eggs and a pint of cider that almost sent me into a coma!!"

Disco.

It was a brilliant evening and I got home before midnight and still largely sober - I'm really quite proud of myself!

Good company and good chat.  The beer and Podge's Gourmet Pickled Eggs (we had the chili ones) were also excellent - as you'd expect ...

Part of the evening was also taken up with earnest study of the festival programme.  bobb, who was on great form and truly does have cool hair, was in need of cider.  The programme revealed that Crones Rum Cask from Norfolk at 8.5% ABV was the strongest and a pint was duly purchased.  I felt pissed just holding the glass.  Here's our bobb and his pint ...

The programme also revealed there are 20 breweries within a weekend's ride from mid-Essex.  I shall be trying to work out a route for a weekend camping trip that includes the best of these breweries.

It was indeed a very fun evening. The only thing is; my bottom has not been behaving itself this morning. I'm not sure what's caused that. Either the stir fry I knocked up before going out, the mental pickled egg or the insane pint of cider. Maybe a combination of all three. Either way, it has been well exercised!

Now then, if you had an iPhone or Android PDA you would almost certainly find there was an app that could help with your current predicament.

What a lovely evening, great to catch up with people

Bobb, I'd say the pickled eggs combined with any food or drink were dangerous combo, talk about having a kick to them  :o

It's kinda ironic that the cider was from Crones and that I commented that I hoped it wouldn't give me Crohn's disease!

I've been on and off the bog all morning!

I don't believe we have a plan as yet.

Suggestions, anyone?

You could always head south and we could meet half way.

Cricketers, Danbury? Or a several of pubs in Danbury / Little Baddow?

OK - what time?

I have the choice of leaving form Ingatestone at around 18:50, Chelmsford at 19:00 or Witham at 19:15 (all -ish), depending on other takers and where they're coming from.

I'd be looking at about 20:00 at the Cricketers at the latest I'd have thought (even if I have to push the fixed up North Hill).  Possibly earlier if I do come from Chelmsford.
