I resisted the ASDA temptation and spent some of it on a pair of Merrells.

BN: The car is broken, looks like a water pump as it's empying the coolant system all over the car park

GN: I'm working from home, the sun is shining, and this afternoon I may work from my laptop on the deck.

GN: It's a glorious day outside - the sun is shining, the birds are singing and all should be right with the world.
BN: I have precisely zero motivation to go out and actually do anything - instead I'm sat up here selling assorted bits of my life on eBay and doing !!SCIENCE!! on the Babbage Engine.

GN(?): The noise coming from next door could be the motivation I need - I realise that they need to do some pretty major renovation work, but the seemingly incessant drilling and hammering is really starting to piss me off.

BN: Can't find the firewire cable for between the mixer and laptop.

GN: I have a 20 metre XLR cable to run from the drum kit downstairs to the desk top upstairs.

Bad news: Part way down a steep muddy, rutted off road descent my battery pack made a bid for freedom and I had to rely on my head torch for the descent. Made worse by the fact that the rider behind had a very bright light which meant I couldn't see the ground because of my shadow.

Good news: was my second fastest time on that section

Good news (II): I found the battery pack, it didn't seem to have been ridden over too many times  and it still works

GN: I can ride my bike without hip pain after the athroscopy in January.

BN: Boy am I unfit. Anyone know any FLAT routes in the lakes from Rydal? This means no chevrons on the map.

Through the park towards Ambleside. Stop at the Golden Rule, which is Thee Beste Pubbe evah.

Then carry on up Great Langdale as far as the Old Dungeon Ghyll, which is also ditto

Or take the bike in the car over Dunmail Raise and park on the minor road round the back of Thirlmere.  That's a nice and perfectly flat road.  At the bottom end, cross the A66 and head up St Johns in the Vale to Threlkeld, then onto the cycleway along the old railway into Keswick, and hence to the Dog and Gun

Thirlmere was a nice ride, though the climb out of Grasmere was long it wasn't steep so no problem. The wet concrete on the cycle way to St Johns was more of an issue so I turned south on the 591 to make my way back.

Ooh, we need a "show us pics of your cello" thread! :D

(I'm most jealous - have wanted a cello for years but I know it would just end up gathering dust like the other instruments, plus it would take up too much space!)

GN: Just received an email from Rose: my new USBWerk has been dispatched.
BN: The 'old' one still hasn't emerged from its hidey hole :( I suspect it may have ended up in the last lot of metal I took for recycling.
SortaGN: if it does turn up, at least I'll have a spare  ::-)

GN: Ate the same food as the rest of the family on Sunday, but they've escaped.
More GN: The pouring sweat, unable to balance fever last night has gone away.
