Oh, cool. I might put my gravel tyres on and jump off the train at Shenfield or  Chelmsford to head for Little Totham. JiberJaber, let me know if you're interested in meeting up in Chelmo to make our way over. I know you have the suss of the Gravel in the area  ;D

Not so much Shenfield, but Ingatestone (less trains though but...) you could ride down past the old church and then along the gravel paths to Swan Lane (you know your way from there from previous off road excursions to The White Hart)  https://ridewithgps.com/routes/27773962 Though I think the trains are a bit knackered at the moment?

So here's what I was thinking for Wednesday, after my 7 days off the bike rest, it's probably about 2 hours or so of riding so I would be aiming for leaving around 19:00

Does the Witham Peloton have a route in mind for Wednesday's ride - preferably one without mud ::-)

I'm doing a school trip pickup from Colchester at the normal Witham departure time, so I'll make my own way there later on.
You are in a maze of twisty flat droves, all alike.

That looks good, unfortunately my week is full of potential MEMWNS scuppering issues....trains and meetings! I will take the bike in though and will aim to get out of the office with enough time to find my way to you and will let you know how I am doing.

To add...I am off the booze to try and give this Gout medication a chance to work! Sober at a beer festival, what ever next?

I can see that plan working!  Sounds like my sort of leave early plan than never happens LOL

It'll be worth going just to see how rapidly these two plans fall apart  ;D

Well, part one of the plan has fallen apart....I'm working from home now so I won't be able to make the Rendezvous in Chelmsford. Now to see how the day pans out as to if I can make it at all... :-\

Given how close the Swan at Little Totham is to home, I'll make my own way there.

Aim for 9pm?
Turn, turn, turn again
Turn, turn to the rain
And the wind

Yes - or earlier if you need more refreshment / food (I think the first time I went here, if you arrive earlier you get to see the Morris dancers and also we got free kebab before we set off home as we were the last lot of people left...)

I am planning to be at Spa RAB tonight.

For anyone that hasn't been to the swan beer festivals before: The beer tent is in the rear garden, access down the gravel road beside the pub, be careful of the craters when turning off the tarmac road.

That looks easier than Grant's suggestion (which may have take a while to get to the start) .

I'll join the peloton at the top of NH

Cheers

Grant’s suggestion was brilliant!  With sufficient muddy COR to cause Grant to fall off!
