And I'll be at home. WARM!!

Feel free to call me when the temperature (in Celcius) gets into double figures.
This isn't just a thousand to one shot. This is a professional blood sport. It can happen to you. And it can happen again.

Well,

On the one hand "Grrr!!!" - no Tomsk, no miles to speak of, horrible train journey, this morning's bike chaining shenanigans in vain etc. etc.

On the other, two thirds of the expected folks had a good, beery, curry-filled night.  (Oh, and since I actually had my bike computer with me I was able to measure my average speed on the commute home.  15.7mph 17.1mph (edited in the cold light of morning when I'm more competent to read my computer display!), with the Marathon Winters on, it seems.)

[It also seems that putting down the power hard at one particular corner on my route home is worth about 3-5mph instantaneously, halfway down the slope.]

Glad you salvaged something from the evening. I was out on the lash with some colleagues and really should feel worse than I do.

Next week I shall be in Manchester  ::-)

The week after I shall be in Essex

I note with interest that the Southenders were volunteered to amuse and entertain us.  Are they up for this challenge I wonder   :-*

I'll be home looking after the kids while mrs_o goes out partying1.

I'll definitely be up for the 24th though.  If the Southenders are otherwise engaged, I'm sure any one of OD, chief or myself could trot our their hosted ride in place.

1. It's claimed to be a knitting evening, but I don't believe that for a moment ;)

Looks like next week is going to be ok. I'll keep it free for a trip to Sarfend, possibly train assisted?

Regarding this Wednesday, I've been thinking.  If the Southenders can't host a ride on their patch, why don't we go back through the list and pick a pub that we never managed to get to?  I'm not sure which they are as I have missed a few rides.

I *think* that the following are the ones we either didn't go out at all for, or diverted the ride somewhere else for ice/snow (not counting the missed hosted rides so far):-

13 Jan 2010Leather BottleBlackmore
17 Feb 2010White HartBurnham on Crouch
24 Feb 2010HoopStock
10 Mar 2010ViperMill Green

Which pubs have we never been to at all, ever?  Mine would be:

Leather Bottle, Blackmore
Willows, Cressing
White Hart, Burnham

I'm not sure my legs are currently up to a nocturnal 40-50 mile thrash which could rule out the Leather Bottle and White Hart.  So, the Willows in Cressing has appeal, assuming there isn't a Southend plan.  If we do hit the Willows I am sure we can find a circuitous route, I thinking 20-30 miles all told might be about right.

Don't count me up for this, and there is no "Southend Plan" but Mrs Nutty is away this week...

Cressing is too far for me at the moment.

Maldon might be my limit unless you know of a better pub you're happy to cycle further South to?

Blue Boar, Maldon?  Prince of Wales, Stow Maries?

I'd happily do either.

Stow Maries is coming up in the schedule, but for  the 31st March.  We could just swap it around to the 24th.

Staring at the MEMWNS Google Map, the hoop at Stock would also be a possibility, I guess, or the White Hart at Margaretting Tye...

Choices, choices.

It would be rather smashing to get Nutty out on one of these jaunts so I'd happily go along with a "Nutty Friendly" plan.

Well Stow maries is an easier ride for me than Maldon...

<Makes note... find a bike safe enough for that long distance, and some lights>

I'm not very fit at the moment :(

Say 7pm to 7:30pm arrival?   Do they do food?  If not I'll stop at home on the way past for a meal (and subsequent stitch).

Don't worry, I'm not very fit either, I bet you're fitter than me.  Not sure when we are leaving Witham so we might be later than 7:30pm.  I'm sure the plan will unfold.

Yes, they do food, might be worth you calling them to check though.
