Don’t fret. I’m on holiday in Spain (Juventas is a Barcelona team, isn’t it?) and I nicked that joke from  Farcebooks.

This is conclusive evidence that you're a hijacker. The real Wowbagger might think there was a team of that name from Barcelona, but he'd know to spell it Juventus.

We might just be in a parallel universe.  Would explain... well, everything since 2016.

The train-setting Wowbagger is now holed up in a downmarket hotel in Montmartre watching France v Uruguay women’s football Match. A seemingly inconsolable Uruguay player has been substituted after only 15 minutes.

Let me guess, it's the only thing on telly which doesn't require an extensive knowledge of French?

Peut-être. It’s a bit one-sided since France are 4 - 0 up early in the second half.

Actually, I bought a copy of Le Monde in Hendaye and spent a fair bit of the journey to Paris trying to understand a pretty technical article about the fact that women’s life expectancy is on the decline in the western world whereas men’s is still increasing slightly.  But you have time to dwell on the written word. Bear in mind I can’t follow a television programme even when it is in English.

Serious interlude:

That is a major point in learning a foreign language. When something is written down, or when you are writing it yourself, there is time to keep looking at and correcting/working it out.

When you say something FORN, you have time to rehearse it in your mind.

When a FORNER says something in FORN, unless you are good at non-verbal "WTF did that mean?" you get one and only one cherry-biting opportunity. That's the hardest bit, and that is what you should spend most of your time on when learning.
