Not sarnies....

...but I had a lovely mixed salad with Stilton, nectarine and raisins.

*Nom, nom, nom*

Tomorrow is a salad with smoked eel.

Nothing now, cos I ate 'em. :P

But they were roast beef, sliced gherkin, mustard and mayo on brown bread.  Yesterday was the same but in a bagel and tomorrow will be vegetable soup (in a flask, not a sarnie).

And what is your routine: when do you make them, to avoid going "ah, bugger it, I'll just buy lunch tomorrow".

I make my lunch in the morning, just before leaving the house.  I don't like sarnies made the night before as they tend to go a bit soggy...

Buying lunch from shops or the canteen is either crap, expensive or both, so I always bring lunch with me.

I prefer making them that morning, but don't have time if I'm riding in - so I'll pick non-soggy fillings* and make them the night before.  I make my wife's lunch at the same time too.

*no tuna mayo, no tomato

if i bring sandwiches, I inevitably eat them by 10am then buy more for lunch. So i don't bring them.

Isn't part of the trick to getting non-soggy sandwiches to cover the bread completely with the butter/spread ?
Seems to work for me

No sandwich at lunch time today (no lunch in fact- I had a large breakfast that included lots of toast and scrambled eggs so I didn't feel hungry. Still don't !).

My usual walking/riding sandwich is hummous of various flavours (replaces the butter), mature cheddar and slices of red pepper on buns/tea-cakes/barm cakes/muffins*.
Tasty and fairly robust so they don't disintegrate in the bag.

*Depending on where I am when I buy them.

Tomorrow I am having:
1. Salad, humous and cheddar with beetroot and horseradish chutney in a wholegrain roll.
Because I like that.
2. Smoked salmon and cream cheese.
Because the salmon has hit the best before date.
3. Humous and avocado and camembert. A combination I am deeply uncertain about.
Because they are very small rolls.

Ham or Corned Beef, either plain or with pickle or mustard.
Chicken likewise plain or with pickle (but not mustard!)
Eggs also plain, or with ham.
Cheese and pickle.
Cheese and apple.
Chicken and stuffing. Yum.
Sometimes coleslaw with meat.

Hmm, that doesn't seem like many choices, I need to think of some new ones.

I always make mine the morning before, it doesn't take more than a few minutes, even with the cat optimistically making his presence known (loudly!)
Actually, it is rocket science.

It's a bit weird, but actually quite wonderful.

Danish tart? That's a nice way of thanking your better half for making your sandwiches and I don't think.

MARMITE and cheese
Tuna spread
Salmon paste and tomato
Philly
Hummous
Egg mayo
Toast and cup-a-soup (yeah I know)

I make them the night before and put them in a lock and seal plastic box = no sogginess issues
Not overly audacious

Today I had wafer thin Turkey, tomato, cucumber with mixed rocket and watercress leaves. I make them the previous evening while I'm waiting for my dinner to cook. I have no soginess problems as I only use home made bread that is cut pretty thick. No Supermarket cardboard for my sarnies.
