Is the private bridge next to a public ford?

No :)

It crosses the burn to the farm, via a private road, but is passable on foot/ horse/ bicycle for those who want to take the bridleway up the gurt big hill.

Here's a good one...the Bridge at St Nazaire.

It's kind of interesting to cycle over too....as I was just about to discover!

Short flat concrete structure carrying the rural road over a brook, but appears significant enough locally to warrant a local restaurant to be named after it.  Note the interesting picture of a bridge on the sign.  Perhaps the villagers were sold a bigger concept than they received.

I think a stage of the Tour went over there about 10-15 years ago.
It's a bit weird, but actually quite wonderful.

Today's run was along the Lark Valley Way. Yes, we have a river Lark. The other one's the Linnet. That's twee BSE for you.

I've been regularly cycling within a few hundred metres of this little beauty on the Stratford-upon-Avon Canal, completely unaware of its existence:

Quote
On the outskirts of Shirley the brick-built Major's Green Aqueduct carries the canal 10m above Aqueduct Road and the River Cole.

270 yards (250 m) further south is the electrically operated Shirley Draw Bridge which carries Drawbridge Road over the canal. It is normally closed and can be opened using a British Waterways key.[source]

If you had to guess one forumite who would just happen to have a British Waterways key about their person, who would it be?

Yes, and the bridge is classified as a 4th category climb.
It's probably the only man-made classified climb on the Tour.

IMHO there are much more elegant bridges in the area (pont de la Roche Bernard and pont de Cheviré)

The photos are not mine :

Pont de la roche Bernard, an old bridge but the proportions looks right to my engineers eyes :

It is now superceded by this one, same architect as the "pont de Normandie" :

And near Nantes is the pont de Cheviré, not quite as big as pont de St Nazaire but more elegant in my view.

Personnaly, I don't like the proportions of the pont de St Nazaire, it doesn't look very efficient to me, I might be wrong as I've never designed something spanning more than 50m!
