Can I just say (and it's certainly possible I've said this before), this is possibly the best thread on YACF.

Very little smugness.
Pretty much NO whining and complaining.
No tech at all - other than that involved in Bridges or used in pictures taking thereof.
Not that many smilies.

Awesome! .

Doh!

Are you saying the Bins for Jane thread isn't good enough?   ;)

It's definitely more niche  :P.

I take loads of bridge photos for Crinkly and always forget to post them, but this one I remembered!

It is a standard wide-ish cyclist and pedestrian bridge over the Niers river but for some reason it has all this massively complicated beam stuff going on overhead. My German companion said that is standard German over-engineering. I am sure it was unnecessary.

We improved the bridge by giving it a matching set of Drängelgitter (annoying two-part gates) as the far side had them. Drängelgitter are a real pain for trikers, tandems, people with trailers or anyone else really, but they keep getting put onto cycle routes in Kreis Viersen.

I think the electrons are probably just old rather than foreign - according to this article on the last refurbishment, they're still using the original 1906 motor. The electrical supply to the gondola is from the 6 wires visible in the photo via short pantographs (three facing in each direction).

Above three are of the bridge carrying US-89 across the Mighty Colorado just downstream of the Glen Canyon Dam, Page, Arizona

Above four are the old (opened 1929) and new (opened 1995) Navajo Bridges over the Mighty Colorado near Lee's Ferry, Arizona.
The new bridge is the one on the left; road is US-89A.

All today's bridges are over the Mighty Colorado, or at least bits of it.

Mike O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge carrying US-93 between Nevada and Arizona just downstream of the Hoover Dam.  880' above the river :o

Bridge between Laughlin, NV & Bullhead City, AZ, from the Laughlin side.

Aztec Road, Fort Mohave, AZ

AZ-95, Needles, CA

Railroad bridge, Topock, AZ

I-40, Topock, AZ

Final three are of the old London Bridge, Lake Havasu City, AZ.  Boat in the last one has a boot full of V8s and sounds teh awsum.  The story that They thought they were getting Tower Bridge is, alas, an urban legend.

All bridges are across the Mighty Colorado except the first one:

AZ-95 across Bill Williams River where it runs into Lake Haversack Havasu

Railroad and CA-62/AZ-95 bridges, Parker, AZ.

Agnes Wilson Road, near Parker, AZ.

Pipe bridge downstream of I-10, Ehrenburg, AZ.

I-10, Ehrenburg, AZ.

Mudstangs and Englishmen, in this case, do not go out in the mid-day sun...  Hiding under I-10, Ehrenburg, AZ.

I-10, Ehrenburg, AZ.

Imperial Dam Road, Winterhaven, CA.

I-8, Yuma, AZ.

I-8, Yuma, AZ.  Also featuring a bloke on a bicycle

I-8, Penitentiary Avenue and railroad bridges, Yuma, AZ.

AFAICT the I-8 bridge is the last one across the Mighty Colorado this side of the Mexican border, and I'm not about to cross into Mexico to look over there either.  There's another dam further downstream which is presumably why the Mexican section of the Mighty Colorado rarely has much water.  In it.
