Cycling to the Dolomites for the Maratona Dolomites 2015

I am planning on cycling to the Dolomites to ride this on 5th July 2015. Does anyone have any tips on best routes from Caen? At the moment I am thinking of taking about 6 days to get there (1,200km+), but am flexible. Anyone care to join me?
