Very public spirited of you!  Saves a self imposed exile drinking by himself!

A bit of a long shot and also a strange request.

My work Christmas Do requires me to dress as a Star Wars storm trooper.  Does anyone have an outfit I could borrow or buy?  The buy option might be better as paintballing is involved.

I have one. You can see it in my FB pics. The helmet bit is a little odd, but you won't be wearing that much. £30

I think you might have a deal.  We'll arrange for me to have a shufty, I don't need it until December 21st

That falls within the OD self imposed dry November period.  For some inexplicable reason I said I would also abstain from alcohol for November for moral support

It has to be said you didn't have to!  But the support is welcome  :-*

Do we know if Oaky is doing likewise?

I'm still interested in going out Wednesday. Huggy and I were wondering about the nice chippy in Maldon although I have no problem with a pub.

Solidarity in November abstinence but I fear that Christophe could be a bad influence  ;)

Blimey  :o

Is your month going to be an audax November i.e. it doesn't start on the 1st November and finish on the 30th?

My middle ame is abstinence :smug: Haven't had a drink since we had our Firday night Colchester pub crawl and curry night back whenever it was. (June??). This no doubt will be remedied during the first weekend in December...... ::-)

Fish and chips on the other hand........

My middle name is abstinence :smug: Haven't had a drink since we had our Friday night Colchester pub crawl and curry night back whenever it was. (June??)

That's just wrong!

Anyhow, regarding this Wednesday night.  Myself and Huggy are thinking of setting off at around 7pm from Witham and I have suggested we do my Hilly Loopy Fun route (as used by the Witham Cycling led ride early on Saturday morning) backwards.  CLICKY.  This will take us back through Maldon so we can stop at Christophe's favourite chippy (The Happy Fryer?) for a bite to eat.

Given the wet weather forecast and the shitty state of the roads I shall be aboard Claud my roadified MTB.  I think Huggy is thinking of riding his Crosstrail.

Thoughts?

ETA chippy - about 9(ish)?

Is it called the Friendly Fryer?  If so I might phone them to check they still do sit downs at that time.

9 is good for me. I think they close at 10.00 so may just squeeze us in. Yes it's the Friendly Fryer although on the odd occasion I've rang their phone etiquette hasn't quite lived up to the 'Friendly' tag.

Last orders for sitting down at 9:30.  Chap I spoke to was very nice.

I'm hoping to join you chaps at the chippy on Wednesday night, but I won't be leaving Witham until a fair bit later than 7 (although the precise time is a bit up in the air - Acorn#1's birthday - and it's possible I won't make it out in time at all...).

I did tweak my wrist a little bit last night (freak book-reading injury on the train) and it's still a bit sore right now, but I'm hoping it'll be OK by Wednesday night, if I do manage to make it out.
