For those who are turning out tonight:

Access to beer garden and pub car park is via a vehicle passageway "through" the building 3 properties down the hill (towards the river). The passageway is gravel, take care on turn in.

For this week - Chelmsford Beer Festival in Admirals Park.

Scheduled closing time is 10pm

I expect a direct route from Witham would be appropriate...

I'll be along as early as possible, probably around 20:00. Soupy may appear too, evening work permitting, as he's got the day off on Thursday.

I have new insect repellant - my worst bite from the Hereward Swamp Vampire is still a bit swollen and tender ...

I will doing a short(ish) ride home, changing bike to one that I don't mind parking outside a beer festival and riding back to Chelmsford with my best locks as ballast.

Don't forget to strip all removables from the bikes - Grey Sheep "lost" a pump last year.

You've now made me nervous about leaving my PBP bike outside the beer fest! Might skip this week - do we know where we are next week?

Touring bike: 3 locks. Front and back wheels via frame, + saddle. Rucksack for 'stuff'.

OK - options for next week please... it's hopefully a sunny week ahead so somewhere a bit more exotic and suitable for Elliot would be good.. which probably means putting off the sailing club .....

Do we know anyone at the sailing club  ???

Axe & Compasses, Aythorpe Roding is on the Western periphery of the Mid-Essex traditional catchment area.
The Bell Inn @ Great Bardfield has not had the pleasure of our visit, as far as I know, maybe worth remedying that?

I am in Brum next week in my official capacity so will not be out - feel free to go as far west as you dare.

After that I do hope to be out a bit more...

A&C is quite foody now, OK for a winter visit, but not worthy of a summer one

The Bell Inn sounds like it might have some promise Looks like it has 3 hand pumps on   Perhaps our roving BFC could check it out ??

I will consider verification of their range and quality of real ales and other amenities (like bike parking), probably have to be a weekend visit after helping out at Dunmow for the Hereward, so will not be a true impression of Wednesday night atmosphere and quality of service.

Also of note - the road bridge in Bardfield is scheduled for long term closure from 29th July for 5 weeks. The wooden footbridge is to remain open for pedestrians throughout though. (Source - Braintree and Witham Times website)

Assuming we are convening at the Bell Inn @ Great Bardfield this week I have plotted this route for the Witham peloton, any objections or gotchas in there? (Really looking for BFC to proof read the route  ;) )
