Hello All. Yes, me again. Hip, as far as I'm concerned, is fine now, so I'm looking forward to getting back on the bike on Sunday!

Walked in once more today.

I said 'walking' Matthew, not 'wanking'. Perhaps you misread my post and assumed something entirely different.

No just simply that after riding 90 commuting miles this week, I am glad not to have to today. Some how I still have to prepare a presentation for a training course, write up my annual self appraisal, and produce the minutes of yesterdays IChemE regional members meeting.

Damn. The explanation is far more mundane! And I wish I didn't have to be stuck here today, rather than out enjoying that sunshine, and which, according to the weather forecasters, is the last for a while.

Woke up (0430) in Cambridge.  Work starts 0830 in Derby!
So I'm now making use of plush-class on the Stansted-Mordor (the train all cyclists love to hate, see threads passim.) with Brompton in the luggage rack.  Dawn over the fens was awesome, but we've plunged into thick fog near Peterborough.

Six days on I'm continuing to rest my knee, after it decided to take exception to a brick pillar I tried to cycle past, but didn't quite manage.

It was tipping it down when I woke up and I have to get to Paddington at lunchtime and it was easier to get the train for today. Shame as the weather is much improved and I could do with a bit of exercise. Tomorrow I will do long route there and back I think...

In my wisdom I decided to tighten the tap connector on the cistern at 6.30 am to stop a drip.......bugger.

Ah, yes. Never a good idea at the best of times, never mind 06:30...

I once decided to pop a screw into a creaking floor board at about 0630, before getting the train to London, as a carpet was due to be fitted that day. Left Mrs S to tend a now leaking (in fact, something of a decorative fountain) floorboard...

At least I called the plumber on the way to the station and he arrived and sorted before the carpet fitters strolled in without knocking happily ignored by the sleeping greyhound.

Not today but yesterday.....

Storm Imogen had been dumping rain all night on the rotting garage doors that we've been suggesting the landlord paints for about 5 years....Leaving the house and really not looking forward to riding into a 30mph headwind in pissing rain....I put the key in the lock and pull the handle....the door won't budge...I pull handle harder and it comes off in my hand....Pulling hard on the key doesn't want to move it and I'm late for work....the rain has swollen the doors and locked them together solidly....

I spend about 5 minutes pondering how I might resolve this, then think sod it, I'll call in and take a holiday....

Had a coffee, Got a few things done, and by the afternoon I'd got into the garage and the weather had improved so went for a nice ride

Bit of a result really

...pubbing tonight to discuss Pyrenees trip in June and training plans. The tube was full of people far too close to me for comfort. Disgusting really.. I miss my bike.

On a train to Warrington this evening for meetings tomorrow and wearing a suit.

I would have been quicker to cycle than to catch that bus as his timetable was for term time so he kept stopping and waiting until the schedule due to the lack of traffic.

MrsC announced over breakfast that she'd forgotten to order me any beers from Tesco so I'm in the car and going shopping at lunchtime.

In attempt to have more energy for fun stuff I've decided to try and reduce my number of commutes, the constant cold and wet every day and riding at the weekends seem to have resulted in me getting run down so I caught the cattle car. I think Monday and Friday may become the norm for this at least until the weather improves a little, one benefit is that I hauled a weeks worth of clothes in today so the remaining days should be easier.

My hill-billy neighbours had another leak into my place this morning so, by the time I'd mopped up, it was too late to ride and I took the car.
Quite glad I did since the weather that I'd have been returning in wouldn't have been pleasant.
I'll take a view on tomorrow's mode of transport around lunch-time.

Working from home and my right knee doesn't seem to like cycling at the moment
