Watching it now, as I recover a hard disk.  :)
It is simpler than it looks.

Oh wow. I didn't know I was a Tom Petty fan until I watched this (although I gave up after about 3 hours - it seemed to be descending into Fast Show style anecdotes:

...So Johnny Depp turned up during filming for the video, cos he was a friend of George Harrison (who was sharing the guitar parts with Dave Stewart), and then when our drummer left we just happened to get Dave Grohl to step in.
Which Was Nice.
...

:)  )

But what a nice guy. I bet he would be a much bigger star if he was an attention-seeking w@nker like most rock singer-songwriters.

Is there anyone else who is missing the great Mr Petty, but didn't know about the Long Ryders? (they do quite a few Petty covers, as it happens!)

They're touring the UK later this year. Here's a good start:

(warning: there is nothing modern or original about this music :) )

I used to be a bit of a Long Ryders fan back in the 80s. Saw them several times and also Sid griffin by himself and in the Coal Porters. Didn't realise he was still touring.
The Long Ryders and The Cole Porters were/are very different bands.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.
