I'm about to set off. Easily recognised by the overloaded bike and the Schmidt hub doing a passable impression of a Campagnolo freewheel.

Also about to set off.  Easily recognised by everyone knowing who I am already.  Apparently there's a lump of rain heading for middle earth, which I hope to get far enough south of before it arrives.

Eating breakfast in a cafe in wantage. I had a good nights sleep on the Ridgeway with a view of Didcot power station and harwell research below me. A dog walkers dog woke me up at 6 30 am so I set off riding on the Ridgeway till I reached the b road down to wantage. I will ride on the b road to the campsite from here  :)

Are people cooking on Friday night or buggering off to the pub? Sam (not that one) and I will probably roll up at about dusk.
ooh - pub?!?

<googles ... >

Blowing Stone (in Kingston Lisle?)
Fox & Hounds (Uffington) ?

Other??

The White Horse (Woolstone)

Ate there this week. Good beer (Arkells, Swindon) and fine grub - but a bit pricey and too small a portion for the hungry randonneur. I should have had the burger.

In Moreton-in-Marsh which is about halfway.  I am not going well.  The reason is probably more meteorological than digetive.

Sam (not that one) and I will be leaving in about half an hour, so should roll in about 7.  We will be cooking, assuming I remembered everything.  I think Sam has bought slightly too much beer.

I am suffering pangs of envy of you lot. But I only returned from Salzburg yesterday and I must keep a clean sheet on my CPAP machine for my hospital appointment next Thursday.

I have dismantled my moka pot and found no further earwigs.  It was Earwig Roulette yesterday morning, as an earwig was seen coming up the spout with the coffee but then (since it transpires earwigs don't float) we didn't know whose cup contained the earwig.  I lost.

I successfully rode all the way home.  Knee got its act together after a couple of miles, and I managed to avoid riding on the A420 at Faringdon this time.  The wind was mostly constructive as far as Bidford-on-Avon, after which gravity and the Rule According To Kim™ that the last 20km of any ride is a bit of a slog dominated.

The Roundabouts of Redditch (which are a slightly less fractal version of Runcorn) section was not enhanced by the arrival of a drizzle storm from the west.

Feeling fairly dire now, though.  I think I need a good 15hours of sleep, and for the lurgy to fuck off.

ETA: Does this belong to anyone?  (Excuse the crappy phone camera photo, it's rougly spherical, plastic, with a big hole most of the way through and a smaller hole on the other side.):

I'm thinking it might be something pole-related from JBB's tent.  If so, PM me an address and I'll pop it in the post.

@Cycleman, did you make it home ok? How's the new tyre?

For me, explorering, COR, chats with mountainbikers (apparently I was bikepacking), rear puncture, chain deshipment, change of plan to avoid traffic displaced from the M4 due to a tanker spillage (I think), and then the discovery that I hadn't reattached the left pannier correctly following the puncture – as it bounced off over a root-bump on the BBRP. That would explain why the back of the bike had felt a bit wiggly. Just as well it didn't happen on the road, and as it's a Carradice, scuffs only add to the patina. Finally, lending my pump to a distressed cyclist. Today I have a tube to mend.

I left the campsite at 1.20 p.m. and took the main roads home via goring and reading. The wind was mainly helpful and I got home at 10.20p.m..
Thank you all for coming. And thank you for the the tyre and hat  clariflys

We had an extra night because we could. Nye made friends with a couple of small boys who were there for one night and I gave the dad some of my dirty postcards of tandems for his wife to look at.

We stopped at the Cotswold Water Park for lunch and a look round Cotswold Outdoor on the way back. We found we still have everything we need so just got some socks and a charging block to add to our collection. The current crop of small Vango tents look well thought out and reasonably priced.

It was a lovely weekend, thank you for organising Cycleman.  :)
