There's the "Blue Moon" Dynamo (unsupported) next weekend, and the "official" one (semi supported) on 28-29 July.
You do realise that the phrase "Blue Moon ride" can not and shall not be uttered on this forum?  ;D

Was it this forum or its predecessor?

The old one. It was 11 years ago yesterday.

I rode the London Sightseer last week on the more-sensible bike I intend to take on the Dun Run and, aside from getting sunburned, it was pretty easy going; this is encouraging because last year I did 2/3 of the Dun Run on a clown's bike and had to bail, and also rode the Sightseer on a clown's bike and was pretty bushed by the end. So perhaps I'll end up with Team Slow all the way to the sea.

I can't do it - not enough interest from work colleagues to get transport back paid for.  I think they can't fathom it out - it's not a sportive or a charity ride, so they don't get it.    The fact that probably none of them have ridden all night before is another thing.

We're planning on doing this on the Pino, starting from Oxford, and going via Skegness, to make it into a 600k DIY audax. I'm a bit nervous about the weather on Friday evening at the moment though!

Cambridge, assuming we've managed to get a decent amount of time in hand by then. It's pretty flat, so we should be OK, subject to the weather...

So what time are people appearing at London fields.

Could be moot now, but Southwark Cyclists say 8pm for 9. I was a bit delayed leaving and vexingly the Liverpool Street trains are cancelled today, so I won't arrive much before 9.

Good luck everyone.  Should be a decent tailwind and fairly dry.

I rode this year, came down from York on the 15:31 train and headed up to London Fields, arriving around 6pm.
Decided to set off pretty much straight away, as I was intending to carry on as a 300km DIYxGPS to Sheringham on the North Norfolk coast. The route I took was pretty much the "official" route, with some detours where local information had indicated road works, etc. Along the way I chatted to a couple of fellow audaxers and quite a few others. Given the tailwind, I made very good time and wound up at Dunwich beach just before 4:15am! That is by far the fastest I have ridden the Dynamo, the tailwind definitely helped.
After a brief rest and some food and drink, I set off for the next leg to Beccles (Scottish restaurant, as there is nowt else open that side of Norwich at 6am - and that's another branch of the same chain!) Whilst having breakfast no.2, I perused the weather forecast and took the executive decision that 40mph+ crosswinds and a tired rider were not compatible, especially as my torn rotator cuff is not totally healed yet, so diverted to Hoveton & Wroxham station for the train to Sheringham. A wise decision, listening to the wind at the moment!
Total distance for the Dun Run & extras: 250km, plus 6 and a bit from Kings Cross and 4 and a bit from home to York station. Still happy with that!

Sounds good.
I was going to ask whether it was rammed - but on seeing your departure time from LF, it is unlikely that it would've been at that time of day.

Let's do this as a huge forum thing in 2019.  It will be the anniversary of, er, the time I did it on a 3-speed.

LF and the PotP were fairly busy around the time I passed by, but apart from one club who kept shooting past me and promptly stopping for 20 minutes, I didn't see any large groups at all.

Possibly Dulwich Paragon.  They acquired a bad reputation for riding like arrogant twats on previous rides.  Their navigation is lacking too, as the same chain gang passed us three or four times one year despite (or maybe because of) riding hell for leather.

Definitely not Dulwich Paragon, it was a dark jersey with a two word name in some sort of script which was pretty much unreadable in the dark. Possibly started with 'M'
Didn't see Dulwich at all, not complaining about that either!

I'd probably be up for this.

I'm looking for (and struggling to find) the thread where Adam, Teef, Stuaff and myself did the battery powered version, one October weekend a few years ago.
Here we go

Trust me when I tell you that there is good reason to do this ride without 2,000+ cyclists keeping you company.

Train problems meant I got to Hackney about 2115, when few people are left. I plugged away and had the usual experience - more curious as the night goes on - of being overtaken by groups doing about twice my speed (so where have they been all night), and gradually caught up to the stragglers, but I did ride almost the whole route alone.

I noticed the following:
20 miles - pint of beer, all fine.
30 miles - pint of beer, all fine.
40 miles - pint of beer, all fine.
62 miles - pint of beer, all fine.
80 miles - no-one has sold me a beer for a while. Sheer murder from here on. (I also ate quite a lot of bacon rolls etc, I didn't ride it entirely on beer.)

I limped on struggling up every hill and slurping down wine gums. Conveniently, my bottom gear (of 5) chose this moment to become elusive.

2 pints in the Ship at Dunwich, ride to Lowestoft - all fine again.

I can't digest food at night and have to run on empty.  This is one reason I like to cover the first half non-stop and very fast - the second half is pretty hard going at fat-burning speed.
