Given the strength of the wind at CET Towers this morning he should be on a flyer coming back from the Severn Bridge services.  Go for a big one today Steve!

If ever Steve needed a lift back into the wind, it looks like tonight would be a good one.

I think it would involve toooo much disassembleagement to get his bike in my little car, though.   :(

If only his bike bent in the middle...  :demon:

Go Steve!
If it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is...

So who has got a high speed transit van waiting in Gt Yarmouth?

Kings Lynn direction might suit a south Westerly better.

Any amount of side wind in conditions like this can be either not as helpful as you think, or even dangerous.

Witney already, that's almost home.  Bet there's a good grin on his face today but he's going to run out of country.  Almost a shame if he gets to GY today as tomorrow looks perfect for his usual flatland loop from home.  I should have offered him a lift to Swansea last night.

I'm near Yarmouth, and not too far from Lynn, and I have a van. Sadly, I'm currently in bed with the lurgy, so even if I could manage it, it would be a bad idea for me to be in contact with Steve

If I weren't busy this evening I'd make the offer, but the electric car would add a fair bit of time for charging up. He can get from Great Yarmouth to Cambridge on a train for £17.60 in 1h 51m. Milton Keynes is a silly price though (£62) and involved 3 changes and 4 hours.

Does anyone know if he wants a lift? Maybe he wants to stay in Gt. Y. and pootle home tomorrow? We are assuming, again, that we know Steve's plans!

......and that may be part of the problem.

Until the tracker kicks off in the morning, most of us have no idea the direction or potential destination. That may be Steves choice, in which case, fair play to him, but I would guess Kurt is getting more riding buddies and 'drafts'  by Alicia making their plans more public, a bit like Kajya's Womens record for next year.

Back in MK. Is this a short day or just a home lunch stop?

Lunch and a bit of a sort out, then off to wherever the wind takes me, which I think might be Acle Travelodge but who knows...

I never advertise my plans. I have several plans for today and what happens today could change what I have planned for tomorrow. The main reason I dropped hosting was that it was too restrictive.

Makes sense to be flexible with the weather as it is (which is always) unpredictable.

GO STEVE!

Forecast winds are dropping steadily.  This morning Steve looked to be in for an utter left bollock of a morning tomorrow starting from Yarmouth, now the forecast is for much lighter winds.  Are the weather gods starting to smile in Steve's direction at last?  Hope so.

As of 21:15 Steve's near Thetford, probably heading for the Acle Travelodge I'd guess.
The forecast for tomorrow is for a westerly wind, so effectively he will have a head or sidewind whichever way he heads (unless it is initially to the coast, and then turns back into the wind, which doesn't make much sense). The wind is forecast to be much lighter though, which is good news.
Very hard graft, but Good Luck Steve!

Keep going Steve, the effort is worth it and we believe in you.
