Title: Been a bit busy on the new garden.....
Post by: Poly Hive on 14 September, 2017, 08:05:47 am
(https://www.flickr.com/photos/61480276@N04/33488837240/in/dateposted-public/) Old rusty corrugated iron out and the new beds setup with turf from the excavation for the extension.

(https://www.flickr.com/photos/61480276@N04/35242194146/in/dateposted-public/) Beds up and running paths to be completed.

(https://www.flickr.com/photos/61480276@N04/37218851825/in/dateposted-public/) Paths in and new fencing up. Am now building a large wood store on the other side of the panels.

Cropped the potatoes and not complaining. Tunnel is still producing tomatoes mainly from the solar powered hydroponic tanks and will be planted up shortly with winter greens.

I'm afraid I can't see your pictures!

Sounds like you've been productive!

I can see that your links don’t end in .jpg but I don’t use Flickr and cannot advise further.

However, with right-clickery applied, I can see that your garden(s) look damn good. A lot of work went into that I have no doubt.

Hydroponic system in the tunnel has been a good success. Not great as probably we used plants that were not totally right for the system but that was our error. The actual solar powered system has worked a dream.

Figures... beds took near 20 tons of topsoil from the area to be dug out for our orangery which is now up. 14 tonnes of Class 2 blinding for the paths and the ramp was fabbed by the local agri engineers at £650. The work was completed with human sweat blood and white finger hand due to the rocks to be broken out for the tunnel to go up. Oh aye... that was said to be possible in 2 days...LOL. Took me and a wonderful friend 3 weeks of swearing.

looks like a lot of hard work in there, and great to see it so productive.

Pics of the orangery?

Made a huge difference to the living room temperature over night due to the removal of a single glazed set of elderly windows. The dogs are MUCH more comfortable.

The existing stone walls which had to be removed have been recycled carefully and used to hide the breeze block retaining wall. The flags are sandstone and tone beautifully with the stonework of the original building which is to the rear.

Very nice! How is the rest of the house now you've chipped all the nasty coating off it?

Still some more of that coat to come off and then I go on a pointing course next Spring and buy some scaffold. :)

I've got polytunnel envy.

I want one for drying timber.

Paving is Indian sandstone and looks really stunning when wet. Further on Wednesday we had some really heavy showers with the water bouncing off the flags and what was lovely is that it then just vanished! The drains were working as planned and better yet invisibly. :)

MrsP? Have you got your stove running and any pics of it?
