Another great artist has died.
The Walker Brothers hits were famous but I picked up his albums Scott 1 - IV from a bargain bin at a record shop years ago and they were fantastic.
His later stuff was sometimes "difficult" but a proper artist who didn't stand still and continued to evolve following his own interests.

The crowds just gathered, their faces turned away
And they queue all day like dragons of disgust

He had a great way with a a lyric as well as a top quality voice.

I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

His interpretations of Jacques Breil songs were excellent. used to work with someone who as a young man fitted the music system into Scott's Mini.

He certainly had the voice for it. He's the only singer I've heard that was capable of giving Brel's songs the same power and punch as Brel did.
I've dusted off all those old bottles and set them up straight

Bought "Climate of Hunter" on the strength of a review when it was released; I'd only heard the Walker Brothers hits before that.  Loved it so much that I then collected his back catalogue.  He's the only artist/act other than Little Feat whose entire works I've downloaded in Spotify.  I guessed what had happened when I entered the kitchen this morning to make a cup of tea and BBC Radio 5 was playing "The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine".  That spoti download will help me get through the day working from home, and many more to come.
The present is a foreign country: they do things differently here.

Never one for taking the easy route creatively and wasn't comfortable with fame and it's trappings.  A truly decent and remarkable man with a voice to match.   :'(

Listened. And keep thinking: "Why 'dragons'??"
