Anyone attending? Entry deadline tomorrow! Forecast is warm but a bit damp. I'll probably ride down for the 100 (with an ECE option if forecast picks up).

It's a ride local to me so I'm in for the 200

I'm in the 200 but came back from Berlin on Sunday with a cold so not too sure if I'm riding yet. More RRtY stress.

200 as usual, probably 237 inc to and from start.  I'll be slower than usual..huge drop in distance over the past year and haven't ridden a 200 since August... :o
DJR (Dave Russell) now retired. Carbon Beone parts bin special retired to turbo trainer, Brompton broken, as was I, Whyte Suffolk dismantled and sold. Now have Mason Definition and Orbea M20i.

Well done NeilP - it becomes addictive.  Today's ride was my 30th month in a row

Had a nice ride round with Manotea, some brief light drizzle early afternoon. Nice to ride with Ian Oliver on the start of his comeback trail at the start :)

I had an appalling time getting through Theale to the start - followed a diesel slick for miles (almost Pangbourne-to-Grazeley). It was like the driver knew exactly my route. Slid about quite a lot, but I'm hearing that the road was fine for you lot in the afternoon.   (I was too scared to go through that again, so I turned for home at Pangbourne, thus missing the Arrivee spread  :o  )

My first 200 since the Upper Thames in October. Rode around with NeilP which explains why it was also my fastest 200 by a large margin.  This is the last one that Mick will be organising and I must say that I’ve always found them to be excellent. The cafe at Bratten was very well organised too

But not the last Kennet Valley Run - a new organiser has come forward.  I believe I'm right in saying that these events have had an uninterrupted run since well before 2000.  One of the longer-running events in the AUK calendar though I know that a number have been around longer.  Quite a few different organisers over the years (myself included one year, when Mick was unavailable) but the routes have been remarkably constant.  It will be broadly the same next year.

Just entered for 2019. Looking forward to it

Edit: should have said. I'm in the 100k event.

I've entered and have accommodation, just need to get some train tickets now.
It's been at the back of my mind to do for a while now.
The last audax I completed was, er, um, possibly last April.  Though that ignores the 195km not-an-audax and the 160km stil-not-an-audax and the one I forgot to even measure but took about 11 hours so around 185km etc..  If I'm lucky there will be another similarly not-so-fast person on the ride.
Rehash of the Rural South (as in Beech Hill) will have to wait another year though (yet more little dear exams, positively definitely the last lot from parental home)
Any fool can admire a mountain.  It takes real discernment to appreciate the fens.

I’ve just entered too, have a whopping 195km in the legs so far this year, but also a PBP entry in my pocket so the time is now to get going again!  I certainly expect to be full value, and may have to ride the 50k to & from the start, but will see how I feel after a few rides

I'll be there Arrabella so there will be at least one other not-so-fast person  :)

I too have not managed to fit much time in to get some miles in for this one so I am expecting to be full value as well (something about life getting in the way and early teenage children to entertain).

I'm being fairly positive as I completed half of the LWL reccy last October in under 12 hours having only ridden a handful of 30 mile rides on the weeks leading up to that 400k attempt plus I faffed and stopped at Winchcombe for what seemed like an eternity so fingers crossed it will all be okay on the day!

Yeah, I am down for this one.  Enjoyed it back in 2016 but there are always a few other clashes in the diary this time of year and the weather can be very hit
/miss (err, like the rest of the year).  I can't recall it being that hilly yet Strava says it is about 5,500 ft of climbing as it was a day of a lot of small ups/downs.

The problem this week could be the strong Westerly on the way out, although that will help the run back

Done this ride twice - a rolling course - 1775m in 205km.  Hoping for the tailwind on the way back.

I'm in. Again. Although it's been a while - 4 years to be exact.
I was, to my utter despondency, out of time then, on account of riding the recumbent with the front disc brake sticking all the way round. Not the best way to go about things

The old dusty cobwebed Velo Couche has not seen the Audax light of day since PBP, so we'll see how this one goes.

There is one extra [mandatory] control for me though. It's going to be almost impossible to cycle past. Will be carrying growler - will be needing a quick refill.

Also entered for the 200k.  Last rode this one about 6-years ago.  Dont know why its been so long really, so looking forward to it.  Also booked accommodation at the Premier Inn about 2kms away.
