It's what the A&R men think will sell. She's young, pretty, Welsh, can sing a bit and is willing to do the celeb circuit for promotion. The saleability of home grown talent should not be underestimated.
Personally, I think she has terrible diction. I can't tell a word she sings and she sounds as if she's singing with 3 marbles in her mouth!
