80-90% Exertion
« on: 12 September, 2011, 05:08:07 pm »
I'm following a training plan for the BHF ride in a couple of weeks and tomorrow is 5 sessions of five minutes at 80-90% exertion with 90 seconds recovery.

As I have no HRM or anything what's a good rule of thumb for how I should feel at 80-90%?

As good a rule of thumb as any (if you have a heart attack I didn't tell you 'K!)

Thanks, but I'm looking for a "how I feel at 80%" rule of thumb on a scale of this is easy through "mildly out of breath" and "gasping for breath" to "help me put my lungs back please"

Go for the level you'd approach a ten mile time trial; something you could maitain for half an hour.
