Glenlivet Nadurra.

Oh my.  It is interesting (especially as I picked it for around £20, inexplicably reduced in Waitrose). Matured in "First fill american white oak casks" I expected it to be light, and it is with a lemony hint, but there is a richness and depth with a fairly light peatyness. Slight sweet overtones, too. Exceptionally smooth for 60% abv (120+ proof). Very drinkable, unlikely to become a favourite though.

This place has very good prices for Portuguese wines.  The following are all made by the chap who did yours.https://www.portugalvineyards.com/en/search?orderby=price&orderway=asc&search_query=carlos+eduardo&submit_search=Search&p=2

I enjoyed this from M&S https://www.marksandspencer.com/quinta-de-fafide-estate-reserva-case-of-6/p/p21127281  and found the same stuff a lot cheaper on that site. https://www.portugalvineyards.com/en/wines/4635-quinta-de-fafide-reserve-red-2016-5609851524007.html?search_query=Quinta+de+Fafide&results=6

The website didn't like Safari, but when I ordered a case the delivery was fairly prompt.  Must order some more before Brexit  :(

I've got a grumble. Brewers putting their wares out in tins that are 95% wishy washy design, that you can hardly find the brewer name, the beer name, the type on. And as for finding the %ABV? You need a magnifying glass and a treasure map.

No, that's a perfectly reasonable complaint IMHO, that can might just as well not have a label at all.

I've just bought the last 3 bottles they had.     I read elsewhere that this standard bottling is being discontinued & replaced by "Viking Honour"

They also had Glenfiddich 12 year old for £18 a bottle.

This afternoon, I am in the Legion in Tewkesbury, with a choice of Sarah Hughes Snowflake (8%), Exmoor Beast (6.6%), or something weak and fluffy (Ludlow Gold 4.3).
One of each so far :)

No more cheap Van Ryns so tonights tipple is Carlos Primero Gran Reserva.  It's like drinking Christmas cake  :P

Carlos 1 Gran Reserva is about £36 for a 0.75l bottle, so I was quite pleased to find it at €29 for a litre in Hamburg duty free  :P

Trying some Butts Organic bottle conditioned ale.  Mrs ao has just walked through and poured the remains of the bottle, I'd left in the kitchen, into my 3/4 full glass, because 'I hadn't finished it'  I now have lumps of yeast and cloudiness...   ::-) ;D  Perhaps this should be in 1st world problems...  ;)

A very nice Fleurie. Went well with duck with and orange and maple sauce. Life's too short to drink new world wines.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Something from Macedonia. It is really lovely. Heavy, dark, fruity, 14% and about £6 a bottle. Waitrose, of course.

Home brew stout - a bit too much head on it, must have over done the priming sugar, but give it time to let the head settle and it is just wonderful.
