I've only just noticed the cheery "Josef is coming!" from, well, from Josef as he passes folk in that first clip.
Top interviewing there. So many people traveled from so many places for that race, it seems weird.
The 'Josef is coming' comment comes from Michael Grutzner who is the blond German, living in Ricksmanworth, in the glasses, in the Huntapac T shirt, in the interview film. The strange aspect for me is that Huntapac are are a huge market gardening and haulage firm in lowland Lancashire, my home territory, so I've been dragged along by their lorries on time trials. They also grow carrots in East Germany, hence the connection.
The depth of prestige sponsors exceeded the facilities in my opinion. The organisers were taken by surprise by the interest. They either need a better course, or to break down the competition into different classes. They were lucky to get away with broken arms. However, the close contact between the riders and the media produced some great footage, but interactivity should not come at the expense of injury. I liked the event for the opportunity to be close to some great athletes, but they were riding in some very confined conditions.
