Lucky to get away with this one!
-
Ouch!
Not as spectacular as his one at the TT when the bike exploded...
-
Glad he's OK. What would have caused the bike to do that? Rear wheel slide?
-
He was bloody lucky that Curly, Larry and Moe were on hand to rush to his aid.
If he'd "high-sided" on the Isle of Man he'd be a lot more dead than he is. There isn't the same access to muddy fields on the Island, Dry-stone walls tend to cushion your impact there. Even so, he was lucky not to be seriously injured once he started to tumble.
-
I still cringe when I see the film of the Conor Cummings crash at the Verandah from a few years ago. He must have cleared a drystone wall by no more than six inches at well over 100 mph...

Yes, it was a terrible crash. Hard to believe he "got lucky" when you watch this but it was a lucky bounce for sure.

Update from Guy - Sunday 9th:
"I'm on the mend, a few upgrades to me hand and back but feel right enough. All part of the job boy. Need a bit of rest but think I'll be back at work by Tuesday
-
Looks like Guy came off again... fortunately OK.

Wow he was swallowing words there. Sounds like the bike is crap.
-
Yeah. "A box full of neutral" ... "It's not like I went for the gear and it wasn't there."

That was last Sunday's race. He's still doing the TT Zero for Mugen, but they've pull the superbike from the Senior TT.

Sounds like that bike is a bit of a beast - it already b0rked John McGuinnes at the North-West.

He was only doing 140mph.
(I don't know how you come away from that with just a sore wrist)
-
The commentator says he 'jumped off'. I guess this means he knew the bike was going down & 'jumped' to get clear(?) - so fortunate not to hit anything...
-
Just got round to watching that vid. He really is shaken up, isn't he? [By Guy standards, that is.]
I hadn't appreciated the issue with the gear-change; of course if you can't change down into any lower gear, you lose all the engine braking. So it's like a mini brake-failure :o
-
Luckier than Ian Hutchinson anyway. Hutchy decked at a similar speed in the Senior and was lucky to escape with a broken femur.

He jumped off in his more spectacular "fireball" crash a few years back. He did it to avoid hitting the kerb and wall. As decisions go it's the very literal representation of "between a rock and a hard place".

It's also about separating your momentum from the bikes before it hits something and literally catapults you into something else.
