Killing Eve (normal TV series)
« on: 19 September, 2018, 10:50:04 pm »
So ... it's a bit bonkers, nd I'm not sure it's quite decided what genre/tone they're aiming for ...

But I like it!. We'll certainly give Ep2  a whirl.

The assassin's a bit too "perfect" for our liking but reasonable enough to watch again.

It has elements of Leon by Luc Besson.

"Pig farming" would be an interesting euphemism for what Jean Reno does for a living in that film.

I saw half an episode without sound via a fellow train passenger's laptop on Friday.  It seemed much better than The Cremaster Cycle, which I would have remained blissfully ignorant of if not for similar circumstances[1].

I liked it, but dropped it pretty quickly. Didn't put the hook in me.

It's taken me until Episode 7 to work out that Fiona Shaw, who plays Carolyn, also played Zelda in Our Brave Boys, the funniest sitcom about MOD procurement ever to grace Radio 4.

Villanelle carries the entire show with her judicious use of her eyebrows.

I ate all the episodes in a week and now I am bereft. It’s like when Saga left the force at the end of The Bridge, but worse. What am I supposed to use my TV for now?

Villanelle is based on Roger Moore?

Villanelle as character is unusual, because you absolutely know that you should detest the character completely, but somehow there is something that despite your best intentions you actually find yourself liking the character

I also love the way the two leads interact, brilliant casting

Spot on, Ben.
It brings out the utterly amoral, sociopathic aspect that makes her so frightening and not just some cartoon-like character.

I liked it, but oh dear how are they going to keep that level of tension for a 2nd series?

Well they're not, are they. The ending was deliberately unexplanatory purely in an attempt to lure you into watching the 2nd series. Sorry but programs like that really piss me off. The ending was frankly shit.
