(sorry for using this thread as a sandbox)

Can anyone see this:

There are two ways you can get exercise out of a bicycle: you can
"overhaul" it, or you can ride it.  (Jerome K Jerome)

Nothing at all. Not even the grey no entry sign of the earlier posts.
Riding a concrete path through the nebulous and chaotic future.

Can anyone see this:

Nothing visible.

When I use dropbox, I right-click on the image in my local dropbox folder, and "copy dropbox link", which gives something like this
https://www.dropbox.com/s/wuadbxwvhizpeto/bike_ridgeway.jpg?dl=0

I then put it between [img][/img] tags, and change "dl=0" at the end to "raw=1", so it looks like this:
[img]https://www.dropbox.com/s/wuadbxwvhizpeto/bike_ridgeway.jpg?raw=1[/img]

and works like this (when I don't obfuscate the opening tags and http prefix with bold tags)

Thanks for that. Does the photo have to be in a specific dropbox folder? I've seen stuff on the web suggesting the "Public" folder is the one to use. I'm not seeing a "copy dropbox link" as an option.
Are you doing this from the dropbox web interface, or from whichever file manager you have ?

It certainly seems to be the case that it's almost always google images that aren't visible to other people. I'd suspect that google are continually changing things, but I use dropbox so I wouldn't know.

Drifing off topic...

Andrew, can you share your incantation for displaying dropbox hosted images? I've put some photos onto my dropbox account, but can't get them to show yet.  Thanks

Dropbox just works IME.
I've only the freebie version but that seems more than adequate for my requirements.

It's not just working for me, buggrit. Ubuntu box with dropbox folder integrated into the file manager, same ubuntu box running firefox and using the dropbox web interface or a w10 laptop with Edge (spit) browser using the dropbox web interface, none of them give me a "copy dropbox link" option.  This could all be down to a PICNIC error of course.

The PICNIC error is well documented  ;)

I might have cracked it.

The one thing that will probably still work on that bike is the dynamo (yes I know it's really an alternateur). I forget the make - New something or other. I've got a couple downstairs. Virtually indestructible.

it'll buff up nicely that.

Interesting weight-saving strategy, too....
