The love of cycling
« on: 22 July, 2009, 03:37:23 pm »
On my way home from work this evening, I was reflecting about how awesome cycling is (as one does :) ) and it struck me that I most enjoy cycling along at around 70% of maximum effort. Then, a little while later, I thought you know what, I just love a TT-stylee sustained hard effort. Not 5 minutes after that, with a case of Damon Hill Eyes on the go, I decided that I love taking risks threading the needle through heavy traffic at speed, chucking the bike around underneath me, lungs, throat and thighs all burning in unison.

:P I guess I just love cycling

I do love a good climb.
I do love a good 10 TT.
I do love a good BR Audax, actually going some distance and fighting the pain.
I do love a good BP with plenty of cafe stops.
I do love a good tour, and actally seeing stuff along the way.
I do love hopping rocks on an MTB descent.
I do love mucking around the car park with track stands and (failed) backwards rides.
I do love bodging old bikes so they work again.

Yeah, I think I love cycling too.

Getting wet cos it's raining? No problem, I'm riding my bike.
Sweating my cloons off in the blazing sunshine? No problem, I'm riding my bike.
Breathing through my arse because the 'gentle climb' is almost vertical? No problem, I'm riding my bike.
Got an appointment in a City 36 miles away so have got to leave a couple of hours before hand? No problem, I'm riding my bike.
Getting shouted at by angry drivers? No problem, I'm riding my bike.
Got to be somewehere? No problem, I'm riding my bike.

I too love cycling
