glide ratio/glide ratio to destination?
« on: 09 July, 2009, 01:09:20 pm »
What is glide ratio when it's at home, is it useful (for cyclists), is it good for it to be high or low, what does it indicate, etc??

It's for gliding, so useless for cyclists.

Google has plenty of answers.

Glide ratio is the ratio of distance travelled horizontally to the distance travelled vertically when gliding. So a 30:1 ratio would mean you can travel 30 metres and only loose 1 meter of hight.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

I got a stall warning on Dartmoor :)
It takes blood and guts to be this cool but I'm still just a cliché.

Pisses me off that my Legend HCx will tell me useless stuff like Glide Ratio... but can't total the height gained over a trip.   Unless someone knows some way of doing that?

Upgrade it to a Vista (or Summit) HCx. It's only available on the Altimeter Page that the Legend HCx doesn't have.
