The AUK website states the venue and that bookings will open in 2018.
There's usually a booking form and notice with the August (now September) Arrivée.
I see Dinner Darts are listed in the Calendar but can't see anything else, anywhere.
What have I missed?
-
The reunion :demon:
-
For a number of years a couple of us have ridden a multi-day tour to the reunion. However during the last two years we failed to actually arrive. Last year we found ourselves in France. I blame GPS navigation.
-
I would like to make plans, which might involve other AUKs...
Two months ahead is not excessive IMHO.

Speaking to Martin on the Audax Ecosse FB page it seems that some information will be coming out immanently.

Online booking is now available on the AUK website!

Gosh!
-
I have booked. There seems scant free text opportunity.
I've stated I need wheelchair access and am willing to share a room.
I do hope any crip room won't expect my room mate to share the bed with me...
-
I booked some time ago, but it seems I have the wrong place and the wrong date. Never mind.
-
No surprise :demon:

Oh dear. Was going to say if you wanted company, perhaps not so good????? riding up there was some hoob enabled available.
All very amnesiac.......

Have now booked train tickets for the comedy crip trio northbound1 and for LWaB & me southbound.
Await stories of travel fun, fun fun!
1) LWaB is only an ex-crip this year. He was on crutches two years ago.

I haven't completely ruled out going to the right place as well. This year is the first time we've got not only the wrong destination but also the wrong date, so that does free-up possibilities. It depends on when EWCC's do is (and they need to get their act together as well).
-
I'm borrowing a Brompton having never ridden one. Potter from Edinburgh, possibly on that old railway line north of the Forth and return via Falkirk Wheel and Kelpies. Whether to brave the 50k or 100k social ride though? :P
-
I recommend Falkirk Wheel & Kelpies

This is whats known as a super long shot but.... is anybody likely to be driving in from the immediate vicinity of Largs?
(and if you don't know where Largs is, then the chances are that you aren't!)

I know where Largs is.
However, no.
HTH.

Cycle it is 90km.
-
[OT] I know where Largs is.
I am not driving.
But Largs and Millport turned me into a cyclist.
In 1975.

No time alas :)
-
I dont recall seeing a Largs (or even Greater Largs) address in any of my events, or met anybody on an event who lives in or near Largs. Think you’ll be on the train.
Edit - of course you know that Bridge of Allan station is closer to Stirling Uni than Stirling station is.
-
Ride down from Stirling - about 90km, depart ~1pm (yes, I know, it will be dark by 2:30...) then train back.
What could possibly go wrong...
Edit: Gazumped... so no 'Key Largos' for me. :)

I'm travelling up with Barry Parslow on Friday but leaving with Helly around lunchtime on Sunday. Barry is on the Caledonian Sleeper from Edinburgh with HK but she is riding there from Stirling on Sunday. He is a big boy and happy to get from Stirling to Edinburgh solo but I was wondering if anybody was going between the two on Sunday afternoon and if they would welcome some company.
-
Trains wot we are taking:
Friday:Helen, LWaB, Barry: 12.00 KGX - STG Direct
Sunday: LWaB, Helen:12.10: STG -EDB, 13.19 EDB - KGX
We'll be in and around the wheelchair bay in Coach F on the LNER services if anyone wants to pester join us.
-

I would welcome company.... on the 12.47 from Stirling, gets to Edinburgh 13.41. Too early perhaps?
-
Well, LW&B and I are booked onto slightly earlier services, as above.
-
Chuck-out 10am Sunday, I see...

Anyone get a phone notification today "audax reunion schedule update"? I checked my mail and other stuff first and the notification has disappeared. It didn't seem to have had an icon showing what it was. (Fb, email, Tapatalk etc.) No update on Auk site either so baffled.

I happen to have the day off on Fri 16th so might ride an
arrow dart from Edinburgh and have a few pints before the last train home. Weather permitting.
Something along these lines : https://ridewithgps.com/routes/28862766

Not us. We set off 9 days ago, heading in the wrong direction. Returned on Friday having failed to find Stirling.
Enjoy yourselves.

We'll miss you Ian :-\

I shall miss seeing some good friends, but the event itself has become a bit meaningless.
Plus, there's the financial black storm cloud approaching.

:'(
-
Not that I have been to one yet, but Posties Salisbury weekend seems to have the old reunion spirit
-
It certainly has, couldn't agree more. Roll on February 16th
-
It might have been nice to show the LEL 2017 to a reunion audience. I was too busy to finish it last year in time.
But that was last year, and I haven't done anything with AUK in 2018, so maybe I'm just Pale, Male and Stale.
We've enjoyed the Dinner/ Reunion over the years, and will be thinking of you all.
-
OK - I'm full of cold, even more miserable than usual, and my brain isn't working properly.
I've had an invite from AUK (I'm a delegate), which I've responded to, I filled in a form, got a confirmation, then later received a schedule.
I understand the reunion is to be held in Stirling. I can't find anywhere where it says exactly where we're going. Does someone have a postcode I can point my satnav at?

I'm sorry I can't make it - the website looks really nice!

Do you need an invite/ticket or can you just turn up for the talks/prize giving without sitting for dinner? I'm keen to see prizes handed out for all the 'winners' (hope there's one for 1st back too)

Go to online booking to see what the options are. I can't remember exactly as I'm in for the weekend but they will at least want to know how may chairs to put out!

The dinner only is not expensive. If you don't want to eat it all I'm sure someone who has been out cycling all day will be able to help you... :-).

Thanks. Lots of hard work by Richard Jennings, Caroline Fenton (memsec) and her partner, Dave, to get it finished. Some tweaks and (inevitably) corrections to follow, plus plenty of supporting and archive material to be reviewed and migrated, but it's a start.

Not necessarily talking about the same website here! ;D

Think of it as a very subtle promotional strategy. ;)

On the train somewhere north of Newcastle surrounded by Geordies.
It's like being abroad, pet!

On the train somewhere north of Berwick, etc. etc.

Nice ride over from Edinburgh. No time for a dart distance though. There's a small conference room doing indoor bike shed duties.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181116/d34ac8e7900e9a3ba7e8c0b116aa6745.jpg)

That photo brings back some very happy memories, we used to dine on the friday night before the start of the "Daylight 600" in a restaurant just to the left of the photographer's position in South Queensferry. The daylight was one of my favourite events. I hope the reunion is as enjoyable as previous events, is cross toasting still allowed?

Dunno about "allowed", but it was absent from the last two I've been at.
I hear Salisbury in February is the place for That Sort Of Thing!

Anyone seen the dart points on their individual rides list? I posted my card to to the org.

Nothing yet, I sent my cards off on 20th. I'm trying not to worry about it.

Nothing yet here either. I know Martin is very busy at the moment, so might take a little while more.

Thanks, as long as cards are inna pile together! I guess with a postal finish there will be some to chase up before submitting the event for validation.

Excellent photo. We were so lucky with the weather compared to last few days.
