Barakta and I have made use of the showers.  We remembered to bring waterproof clothing and mobile phones this time, but the rain never became anything more than a moderate drizzle.

"At least it's not like school PE" she said. I pointed out that it was exactly like school PE, and offered to find someone to spray deodorant in her face for the full effect.

I clearly remember communal showers that barely came up to my chest level at Mildenhall...probably with people smaller than me in mind, it being a school..

I partook of a shower earlier. I have no particular problem with their height as I can easily bend down to wash my face and hair. It is the lack of sprays on some of the nozzles which can, unless you are paying attention, lead to a slap in the testicles by s jet of hot water. The other problem is moreinsidious: there is a cold water pipe at ceiling level above the clothes hooks and this drips condensation on your clothes.

Did the 105km event with a friend. Nice ride, bit damp, glad I didn't do the 200km.

Thanks to Dennis and team for their organisation.

We are in the pub in Bury, which is not very Mildenhally to be honest. I appear to have collected a head injury.

Cheers.

It's all gone a bit silly at this end of the field. Running, hiccups, discussion of waterboarding, no rain on tent noise...

Oh, and an accidental car horn.

And considerable consternation here too: I awoke, desperate for the lavatory and when I got here I discovered that it isn't even midnight yet.

Such is the influence of ale and dhansak.

Something seems to have gone wrong with the rain?!?

Maybe it all got used up at 4am?

Rain appears to have stopped. I've had tea & cereal, now lounging within tent listening to other people be active.

The infinite "Do While" loop that the rain was using seems to have transferred to your Android. This has had two effects: The rain has stopped and you keep saying the same thing. (0736, 0740, 0844)

Well, it's nearly 2pm and I am still at work. So much for getting in early & then coming on to the pub.  ::-)  I came by car to make things quicker, so I didn't even get a ride in. And I am in tomorrow as well at 7am. Will I get this weekend back?

Ah well. Hope you all had / are having / will have a good ride & pub lunch. Sun's out!  :)

The Queen's Head in Hawkedon is massively overpriced and overwasped.

I have decided to take upon myself the arduous task of trying out all the pubs in the square between Bury, Long Melford, Hundon and Newmarket, over the winter, in order to recommend a different destination for 2014.

It's a tough job, but I'm willing to suffer for the good of the group.
I suspect Chris is caring enough to assist me in this task.

We bought a set dinner for 6 from the Chinese and were joined by Badger otp and Mrs Badger, who were married a fortnight ago today. There is now beer.

I forgot to mention an impressive bit of roadkill on yesterday's ride: a mink! I had never seen one before, alive or dead.
