Mark Speight RIP
« on: 14 April, 2008, 05:36:59 pm »
Am I the only who thinks how very sad it is that Mark Speight has killed himself. Me and my daughter used to regularly watch Smarteenies, and we always loved his enthusiasm and especially his little picture - BIG picture segment. Very, very sad story.

I didn't ever watch him, but I found it a very sad story indeed

No you are not the only one. My kids used to watch SMart and it all just seems such a sad waste.

I always used to shout "Arriba!" when the music started for the Big Picture.  It had a kind of Mexican groove.

It's all very tragic.

He was an excellent presenter and very talented. I haven't told the kids yet.

A real tragedy.

A tragic waste, particularly as it was all so avoidable.

F*cking drugs. Poor guy found his soul mate and she overdoes it on a booze/drugs cocktail. He can't carry on.

Tragic.

Would "Life" or Capital punishment deter those who pedal drugs?

Very sad.  A great TV personality - and I mean personality.

She had big health problems, which were probably the start of it.

Poor sod.  I wonder how long he was up there?
It takes blood and guts to be this cool but I'm still just a cliché.

6 days apparently.  I should imagine it was a very unpleasant find.

Two shocking things.

I passed through Paddington Station on Friday, when the poor man's body lay hidden.

I opened the paper today to find his obituary, and it came as a shock.

my daughter met him while she was on the big toe radio show, she said he was really nice, just like his on screen persona. i'm saddened to hear he's taken his own life, and i never thought he'd had a hand in his girlfriend's death.

little picture - big picture was kids' tv gold.
she was quite innocent, 'till she got that bicycle - sykurmolanir

Like crackle, I also haven't told the kids yet.

It just gets to me that of all the people on TV to go that way, it had to be someone who seemed to have so much life and joy in him when he was on screen.

A real waste.
