Cav still managed a 5th place finish despite sliding across the finish line

Cav's throw for the line was indeed a bit unconventional:

Remco looked to be putting on quite a show for the cameras today, needing his team to lift him back to his feet after crash #1,  similarly slow to get up after crash #2, and all of the gesticulation to his team car on the roll to the finish. All looked rather princessly to me

Not exactly blameless in that final crash either imo...

Gran Sasso 'dossing' day..?

Disappointingly dull back in the peloton but I do just love seeing riders from the minor teams winning from a break

Mr 201 down in the bottom of the shot looks really wide in that photo.
Do not clench. It only makes it worse.

Good ride by BH.

Complete first week (stg1-7) Giro GC action summary:  RE doesn't fancy being in maglia rosa after stg1, so hands it to another team.  The end.

I'm looking forward to the stage  into Switzerland over the Grand Saint Bernard pass as I drove it in my campervan with my smalls about 5 or 6 years ago.

And goodnight Remco. Hope he feels better soon. Now it's down to Tao, G and Rog to duke it out - with G in pink from Tuesday AM. If they can stay infection-free.

Given what's happened to Gaaaannnna and how much Matteo Tosatto was coughing post-race...

Yes, wonders who's next for COVID, given it's already been in the INEOS camp...

Guessing Remco may now ride in TdF.

Guessing Remco may now ride in TdF.

The 'experts' on Belgian media are divided if he will ride the TdF, first of all SQS will be taking a sprinter so if he goes its unlikely to be for GC, and most importantly Belgian media will heap a whole load of unrealistic pressure on him if he does ride the TdF. They see him as the successor to good old Eddy... so if he goes with GC ambitions he has to be 100%.

Its more likely he will do the World Championships and Vuelta now (if fit post Covid)

Alan

Tosatto might just be exercise induced asthma.  And I think it also depends on the team protocols for testing. Do they test all riders every day, or just those who look to be ill (in which case, Covid or not, they should probably leave the race).

Tosatto might just be exercise induced asthma.
Unlikely, given that he sits in a car all day.
