It isn't. Why put yourselves through this unnecessary and debauched suffering?

An outing on Wednesday evening should be possible. It might be proper cold then instead of this murk.

There seems to have been a spate of 'offs', see various threads....be careful out there.....

I shall be driving back from Newbury on Wednesday evening so that counts me out.

Like Tomsk says, take care folks.  Returning down the Flitch Way on Saturday afternoon I momentarily lost the Tina the Tandem's front wheel on the damp metal deck of a bridge.  We stayed upright but crash landed into a hedge, disaster narrowly averted by luck not good judgement.  Young JJ the Stoker was very brave - a top man that one

I'll be around on Wednesday.

Is it too early for Marathon Winters?

The way its going....could be studded tyres any day now. They're just a pain to fit, so its got to be worth it. Meanwhile, a venue for tomorrow with a B road bail-out option?? Braintree works for most in that regard - what's the Wagon & Horses situation?

I believe it re-opened with the new landlord.  Haven't been in since, mind.  I wonder what their selection of soft drinks is like.  :-\

I'm about but not sure I fancy riding on roads that have been rained on all day and then potentially freeze in the evening  :-\
Riding to the gym is only very slightly more attractive.

Looks like very limited interest at the moment.

I froze my head riding 1.5 miles to the station this morning... 0C and rain  :(

In the interest of advance planning I'll say that I'm going to wimp out on a MENWNS ride this evening, maybe if road conditions were more certain (and I had studded tyres) I'd be more enthusiastic. I'll probably head to the gym for indoor exercise followed by a steam to set me up for the 1.5 mile ride home - hopefully I'll get back before starting to freeze  ::-)

I had to come into London today, so I won't get chance to fit my studs... On the other hand, at the moment, the forecast is claiming +2 or +3 and cloudy for tonight so it might not be too bad (famous last words?).

I'm pondering the options...

EDIT: "Showers throughout, heavy and quite frequent in places, perhaps turning wintry at times, with a little sleet or wet snow possible for a time away from coasts. Winds easing for a time but a brisk northeasterly setting in by morning." doesn't sound overly pleasant though...

I recall last night's temperatures forecast to be +3 or +4 and when Mrs H  came in a 7pm she said the car thermometer was reading +1, apparently tonight is to be colder than last night  :-\
Take care out there, even if total distance cycled is going to be 1.5 miles (or 3 miles round trip to Bramston)!

I'm bailing for tonight.

My train is stationary, so I'm not going to get home till late.  I've suffered attack of CBA, with a side order of meh.  Oh, and it's wet and cold anyway.

This Wednesday evening, what about Feering?  Perfect Pint recommends The Sun and The Bell.

Perhaps chief might like to come as Feering is just about in this new manor.

In the absence of BRT at the moment, here is a Google Maps proposal for Wednesday evening.
(May require some slight fettling but it's a start.)

Just let me know if we're likely to end up in Suffolk. I'll bring me passport and make sure me jabs are up to date.

I'm up for Wednesday but I'll probably meet you there a bit later. Just let me know the venue.
As I've been so focussed at work today I have drawn up a rough route for my railway ride 200km DIY, through Essex and South Suffolk, taking in (at current count) 26 open and former stations. More to follow.....

I'd be very interested in riding with you or at the very least pinching the route. When are you thinking of riding it?

I don't think I'll make Wednesday, I'm somewhat dented from my ski holiday! Almost off the painkillers so we'll see :-)

I should be able to make it out on Wednesday.  I'm hoping i won't need to be in London that day.

*waves* Sadly I'm already out on Wednesday night but may be back intime to pop into Feering on the way home.  What is the ETA at Feering?

I'll be in that London as well so timings can be subject to change, sadly the trains have been terrible recently

I have had a look at Perfect Pint which features two Feering pubs, The Bell and The Sun (neither are in the Good Beer Guide).  The Sun is a Shepherd Neame house and beer from Kent is almost as bad as beer from Cornwall.  The Bell is a Grays pub but it does sell Doombar  ::-) but despite this The Bell gets my vote.  What do we think?  Of course all this is academic as I can't drink beer until 0001 on Sunday morning.

Anyhow, I have plotted a route which I think closely approximates Huggy's.

I am available to leave Witham at 7pm.  How is everyone else fixed?  I think we should be at a Feering pub by about 10pm, possibly a bit earlier.

Bike Route Toaster doesn't appear to be playing nicely.  It won't display the route I lovingly uploaded.
