Fab news about your new vessel! Any Easterlies around tonight? Back has been a bit tender for a week but I may chance a localish one
I could be tempted out to a western venue…

I’ll be heading up the central splinter faction at the SH as usual…

Fab news about your new vessel! ...
Thank you!

... a boat I subsequently bought...

We need details

Details are probably best imparted verbally, which was my plan for this evening.

Headlines: I have bought a 49 year old Drascombe Longboat Cruiser called Lou-Lou Belle.  I doubt there is another LBC like her anywhere, her spec is mind-blowing.  For example find me another LBC with a scaled down Hebridean wind vane self steering gear.  Our course there is also a practically brand new Raymarine ST1000+ Tiller Pilot with bespoke splash cover.

Sounds absolutely fantastic, 49 years old though, is it seaworthy?

You should be careful on here of suggesting that anything 49 years old is no longer fit for purpose...

True, or even things / people older than 49!

Sorry, just applying personal experience, my rigging is shot, my keel is rotten, I'm completely rudderless and as for my poop deck, it's best you don't know....

I do have some experience on the water with some salty seaman, but it may be best if I tell you those tales in person.

I'm on a course this afternoon/evening.  Might be able to pop in for one on the way home - depending on what happens.

Sorry but I've had a better offer: we'll be out celebrating the 'Tall Guy' passing his driving test today, and also Soupy's first 'The Baroudeur's Bidon' podcast. (It's on Spotify, Amazon and Apple. Also accessible through Twitter and Instagram.)

On the basis of it only being a romantic drink for the two of us, do you want to give it a miss this week? (I could do with a night of none drinking tbh :) )

can easily give it a miss this week, got lots of G&YF card processing to do, so probably a good plan anyway

I'll be riding Fenland Friends (helpers' ride) tomorrow and Wednesday so won't be out. I might pop into the Angel and Harp at the finish though ...
