During the ACME Day at the Races it was mooted that we try some forward planning and propose a regular visit to the SH.  As we're there on the first of June it is suggested the first Wednesday of each month is the SH.

Don’t know about you, but I am there on 31st May, not 1st June.  ;D

That works a treat.  I should be there this Wednesday and I’m back from my trip on the 1st July.

Will bookend things quite nicely.

I think this is an excellent idea - totally support as really helps with planning.

What's the plan for next week?
I think we should make a list of a dozen pubs and visit them in order, one per week, and when we get to the end we just repeat the series. Just turn up at the appointed time, 2000 - 2030 hrs, have a drink and a chat. All welcome and no pressure on turning up every week.

Great minds ...

This is kind of what I envisaged.

1 Minor problem. This Wednesday is the 31st… are we going to do SH 2 weeks running ?

No objection in principle to two visits to the SH.

This time of year we might be going forrin though: Anchor, Nayland; Clare pubs; The Bull, Cavendish? Or at least a bit further into North Essex -  Belchamps, Ridgewell, Hedinghams, Yeldham?

I plan to be there Wednesday and can hopefully hand back some arrow cards.

Following week doesn’t work, though.

Anchor, Nayland

If Huggy is free on 7 June and wants to hand over G&YF 300 brevet cards and stamps for A&S this would be marvelous

You could always make it the last Wednesday of each month.

I like Tomsk's suggestion of further afield at this time of year - at least, I would if it wasn't blowing old boots from the North East.

Ok, ACME Elder sticking his oar in here ... lets go with the once-a-month Spiritual Home plan, but make it the last Wednesday of the month.

I'd vote for the Anchor at Nayland on 7th June, except I can't make it due to other commitments that evening. June evenings further afield (more miles, less beer, remember that?) would be great, especially if the weather improves. Before you know it the nights will be drawing in!

Yes

I have no intention of monopolising this idea but my initial thoughts on the matter were to set off at about 6:30pm and follow a different route each week of between 30 and 40 miles.  ...  My thoughts were that the emphasis was on cycling not drinking!

And don't forget your words from the first post in this thread.

Me, maybe. I think launch time is 7:30 but it’s been so long I might have forgotten.

7:30pm is the usual departure time with an eta at destination between 8:30 and 9pm depending upon length of route at a gentlemanly pace.
The classic 90 minute route to the SH incorporates a visit to TMNH which is less visited in recent mid-week excursions.

I will probably stay local.  I don't fancy a 50k slog back into a north easterly in the wee small hours.
